Bell Work 3-14-08 (Use J13) Find the percent of increase from 22 to 63. Find the percent of decrease from 6.3 to 2.2. 1. 63 – 22 = 41 41 ÷ 22 = 1.863636… = 186.4% 2. 6.3 – 2.2 = 4.1 4.1 ÷ 6.3 = .6507936 = 65.1%

markup – the amount of increase in price. Markup is added to the cost of merchandise to arrive at the selling price. Ex. 1: Find the markup Markup = percent of markup · store’s cost Percent of markup is 67%. A CD costs the store \$10.15. Find the markup. = .67 · 10.15 = 6.80 round to nearest cent The markup is \$6.80.
