   Apply today and you could be a…     Lecturer – Gynaecology and Obstetrics        University of Zambia, School of Medicine and University Teaching Hospital (UTH), Zambia      +6 months      Background    Despite the overall economic outlook of Zambia seeming to be improving, many Zambians are yet to share in the benefits as      they still face socio‐economic and health development challenges.  Its healthcare system faces shortages of drugs,    equipment and qualified personnel. As Lecturer in the area of Gynaecology/Obstetrics, your work will be 40% service and    60% teaching and research based. You will provide specialised training to Zambian general practitioner doctors and help    develop in‐country specialist teaching faculty.            What does the role involve              Participate in preparation/review of work manuals, procedures and related documentation to deliver the  assessment framework for the MMed training programme  Deliver  lectures, mentor, train and tutor of MMed students  Develop courses, teaching materials and study guides  Conduct experiments and demonstrations as part of instruction of students.   Conduct field training such as clinical work, evening classes, in‐service and supervision  Plan, organise and oversee research and development work  Coordinate and help to deliver the structured postgraduate teaching programme  Provide specialist patient care services to ensure efficient and effective management of patients  Develop and ensure timely implementation of capacity building interventions to impart appropriate skills and  knowledge  Make decisions related to patient care and capacity building in within the department/unit    Skills, qualifications and experience required  You need to have completed specialty training / Masters Degree (MMed or equivalent) and 2 years post‐qualification work  experience in Gynaecology/Obstetrics. Furthermore, the candidate must have the ability to provide guidance and advice to  students, requiring sound managerial skills and knowledge. You must have proven experience in training/teaching and  mentoring, and be flexible to adapt to new environments, especially with resource poor settings.     And the rest....  Zambia often being considered as ‘Africa’s diamond’, the country boasts some of the continent’s best wildlife parks and  shares some of the region’s major highlights: Victoria Falls, Lake Kariba and also Lower Zambezi National Park. Blessed with  awe‐inspiring nature and an abundance of wildlife, Zambia offers an unforgettable experience for our volunteers.     We’ll ask you to commit to 6‐9 months to make a sustainable contribution to our development goals. In return,  we’ll give you comprehensive financial, personal and professional support. We'll provide you with extensive  training before your placement, and our financial package includes a local living allowance, return flights,  accommodation, insurance and more.   To find out more....  To express your interest for this role, please email your CV to Ankita at ankita.awasthi@ivolunteer.org.in. In case of any  queries, please call +91‐11‐26217459/60. Last date to submit your CV is 15/03/2014.    www.vso.org.uk  www.ivoindia.org  VSO is a registered charity in England and Wales (313757) and in Scotland (SCO39117)
