1 • The World Wide Web has no borders

1 • The World Wide Web has no borders – The WWW reaches every corner of the World – 2.5 billions people use the WWW – 634 millions websites – 1 billion active users on Facebook The WWW is everywhere

2 • Protect your identity

2 • Protect your identity – Your identity belongs to you – Don’t let others use your name or image – Avoid using your real name – Don’t give sites more than they ask for – Once it’s online, you can’t remove it Think before giving information to the WWW!

3 • Protect your device

3 • Protect your device – Change your password as often as possible – Don’t tell / write your password – Don’t let other people use your device – Never leave your device alone – Disconnect from Web services

3 • Protect your device – Use official and paid antivirus – Update your software – Avoid unsecure Public Wi-Fis – Avoid positioning services – Keep your Bluetooth off Your device is your personal key to the WWW

4 • The WWW is a dangerous place

4 • The WWW is a dangerous place – Don’t talk to strangers or play with them – Avoid anonymous chat and live messaging – Is this person really a friend? – Report anything unpleasant – Afraid? Shocked? Close the lid! You never know who really is on the other side

5 • Illegal is illegal… and dangerous

5 • Illegal is illegal… and dangerous – Piracy is a crime – Illegal Websites are dangerous for you – Do not accept to use or join illegal activities – If you don’t understand, close the lid! – “To good to be true”… is never good or true! Always ask your parents in case of doubt

6 • Respect yourself

6 • Respect yourself – Do not do something you’ll regret later – Avoid ridiculous images of yourself – Watch your mouth! – Unfriend people if necessary – You are responsible for your digital identity Your words and images will stay online forever

7 • Respect others

7 • Respect others – Be kind and polite online – Do not post or share other persons’ words or pictures without their permission – Do not make fun of other people online – Respect others’ beliefs, opinions, tastes It’s not because it’s virtual that it doesn’t hurt

8 • Know the rules

8 • Know the rules – Social Media sites have rules: Read them! – Learn how to tune your privacy settings – Are you sure you know who can see your data? – Do not let applications share information – Don’t lose control of your accounts If it says “restricted”, it’s for a reason!

9 • The WWW with Mom and Dad is cool

9 • The WWW with Mom and Dad is cool – The WWW is a great place to learn together – Mom and Dad also need to learn – Your parents should have access to your devices and all your online accounts (until you’re 18!) – Mom and Dad also like to go on the WWW: share your experiences and discoveries The WWW could be a great family activity
