Kenco Coffee A rich tradition of history is how Kenco Coffee has been described. In 1923 Kenco Coffee was founded by a group of coffee bean planters. Formerly, the company was known as 'The Kenya Coffee Company', and for more than 40 years since its inception, they used to buy coffee beans from Kenya. Due to the diversity of their customers, Kenco Coffee changed some of their methods, for example mail order, to fit in with their customers’ requirements. It was because of the shortage of coffee beans in Kenya that 'The Kenya Coffee Company' changed their name to Kenco Coffee. Even through its chaotic times Kenco Coffee has come out on top by becoming one of the most famous coffee brands. After the name change, Kenco Coffee was put in the spotlight for big corporations and the well-known hotel company, Truste House bought it. The Truste House gave Kenco Coffee the opportunity to become as famous as it is due to their popularity. Kenco Coffee was sold to other coffee shop businesses and their national sales rose due to their reputation. In the 1970's Kenco Coffee was bought by Cadbury's considering the popularity of the company. Later, they sold it to Premier Foods and in the 1980s, General Foods bought Kenco and since then, they remain as the owner of this company. Kenco Coffee has shown the public their concern towards the environment and global warming which was evident when they joined the Rain Forest Alliance. As well as providing their particular brand of coffee, Kenco also supplies a variety of coffee known as Kenco Sustainable Development Coffee. In 2008 Kenco Coffee's message stated that 75% of their freeze dried coffee was going to be produced from Rainforest Alliance Farms. All these steps helped Kenco Coffee to win the hearts of the people in the best possible manner. Other than just selling coffee, Kenco Coffee has been supplying instant coffee machines which have become a very popular product. Kenco gives utmost importance to different processes like growing; harvesting, drying, roasting to make their coffee really unique and they focus on developing the perfect level of aroma and flavour to make it all the more endearing to a huge number of people all over the world. The harvesting of the coffee cherries need to be carried out within a fortnight to prevent over-ripening; you will know when they are ripe due to their bright red colour. The most important process is the drying out process; you need to be very careful with the coffee beans to ensure supreme quality. Last but not least the coffee beans are roasted to extract all the moisture that's left in the coffee beans.
