K’Nex Levers: K’Nex Levers For Mrs. Berg’s Science Class Seesaw: Seesaw Materials: Your group’s seesaw, foil packet, rubber band, masking tape NO SHOOTING RUBBER BANDS Procedure: 1. Lay your hand flat on the desk with your palm facing up. Put the foil pack in the palm of your hand and lift it up from the desk. Take turns doing this. The foil pack is the load or resistance. Q. Is the load heavy? Can you feel the weight in your hand? 2. Now place the load on one end of the seesaw. Use the rubber band to secure it. Q. What happens to the end of the seesaw with the load attached? PowerPoint Presentation: 3. Push down on the empty seat to lift the load. Q. Did it feel easier, more difficult, or just the same to lift the load this time? Q. In which direction to you apply your effort? (push) Q. In which direction did the load move? 4.
