Make sure tyre pressure is correct. This is very important. Ensure that your tyres are pumped to the correct pressure to reduce resistance while driving. PUMP UP THE VOLUME Under-inflated tyres means your engine works harder. Check and adjust your tyre pressure regularly to increase fuel efficiency.

Get better air filter such as K&N > high flow of air will increase better combustion (drop in type is better for fuel economy) Check your air filter. A clean filter lets your engine breathe easier. And always use original parts.

Try to drive with very light foot. Dont go over rev your engine. As long as your car can go with the lowest RPM is the best way to make your car fuel economic . For manual, try to use higher gear most of the time. For Auto, put your foot slowly to increase speed , dont accelerate fast.

Service car on time. Best 5,000km. It will make your engine running smooth again and restore it’s fuel economy features. Change the oil filter, engine oil and airfilter!

Wash your car at least once a month. You will feel the different. The more weight your car carries, the more fuel it burns. Remove unnecessary cargo from your car. Getting rid of that extra pair of boots or bag of tools in the boot reduces your engines’s workload and improves fuel economy. Remove the roof rack if you don’t need it.

Dont use aircond if possible. If not, just put the aircond to the minimum level. While cruising, better use aircond than open your window to reduce the aerodynamic drag and your car can run faster with better aerodynamic. Keep windows closed when travelling at high speeds to avoid wind resistance. Air-conditioning decreases fuel efficiency but driving with the windows oopen can be even worse because of increased drag. For motorway driving in hot weather, turn on the air-con or lower the windows very slightly on each side to allow a cross-flow draught.

Start engine and drive slowly with normal RPM. No need to warm up or “panaskan” enjin because it will consume your fuel without any kilometres. SKIP THE WARM-UP Most cars don’t need to be warmed up anymore. Drive off immediately in the morning but drive gently until the engine has reached its normal operating temperature.

Every 2 service, get some oil treatment to treat your engine back to its optimum performance.

For long distance travel, choose to travel at night or at low temperature day. your engine will suck cool air and it will be more efficient.

Dont forget to clean your throttle body (for fuel injection car) and carburator intake with special cleaning spray cost about RM10 per can only. To remove all carbon that makes your engine perfomance drop against engine running period.

Going uphill and on winding roads : Your car will start gulping fuel if you don’t drive correctly in these conditions. Start climbing with a low gear and move your way up as speed increases. While doing so, avoid flooring the accelerator. Press it progressively and be patient.   On highways : Achieve an ideal speed by shifting gears accordingly. Then, reduce acceleration when it is possible, like when you’re going downhill or at corners. Let the car’s momentum drive you forward and while you’re at it, enjoy the view.

In traffic jams : Go slow on the accelerator. You aren’t going to get far with the jam ahead anyway. Avoid frequent gear changes and use the correct gear according to speed. Shift to neutral whenever possible. . General drivings : Patience is key. Avoid accelerating unnecessarily within short distances and abrupt braking. DRIVE SMOOTHLY Each time you stop and start in  traffic queue, the engine uses more fuel. Avoid sharp acceleration and braking while in queues and at junctions.

Don't exceed the speed limit. Speed limits are calculated for maximum safety they'll also reward you with better economy. (Do not travel too slowly on the highway. Maintain a safe highway speed, according to traffic flow). Sticking to the speed limit not only saves lives but petrol. Driving at 95 km/h uses nine percent less fuel than at 110km/h and driving at 89km/h could save up to 15 percent.

Do not idle your car for more than 2 minutes as you are using up fuel unnecessarily. DON’T BE IDLE When queuing for longer than three minutes, switch off your engine. An idling engine wastes fuel and increases carbon dioxide emissions.
