Analysis of results spreadsheet files: Instructions This spreadsheet is designed to help you analyse the Leaving Certificate examination results for the past 5 years. It will enable you to compare results in your school and also compare those results with the national statistics in those subjects. The spreadsheets are designed to inform subject department planning discussions. The current draft of the excel files (2010) are applicable for the years 2008 to 2012. Each subject spreadsheet contains the State Examinations Commission statistics for that subject and a sample set of results for a school. Replace the sample set of results with your own department results in the yellow cells on the ‘Data Entry’ worksheet. Unfortunately, it is not possible to update existing 2012 spreadsheets automatically. You will have to copy & paste some information from last year’s files to this year’s spreadsheets. Copy your school results from the ‘Data Entry’ sheet in your existing 2012 spreadsheet into the equivalent page in the 2013 file (eg: highlight and copy the numbers of A,B,C,D,E,F,NG for 2009 in the cells with the yellow background in 2012, highlight and paste these into the equivalent cells in the 2013 file). NB just copy the files with the yellow background. The results, analysised from a number of perspectives, appear on adjacent sheets; use the tabs at the bottom of the worksheet to view these. Comments may be inserted by clicking on the link on the bottom of each worksheet. These combine into a single pages commentary on the last tab. In some cells additional information may appear in comments which are indicated by red triangles on the top right-hand-side of the cell. These spreadsheets are still under development and your observations would be greatly appreciated. Any feedback or queries should be sent to corneliusyoung@pdst.ie
