How to make a Volcano:  How to make a Volcano Materials you will need: baking sheet or newspaper, clay or play-dough, soil, small plastic cup, 1 tissue, baking soda, flour, vinegar, red food color Step 1: On a baking sheet or newspaper, use the clay or play-dough to form a mountain around the small cup. The top of the cup will be the opening to the volcano. Do not cover the opening. Step 2: Place top soil over the clay or play-dough and gently pat down. This will cover the clay to make the volcano look more real. Step 3: On the tissue, measure 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of flour. Wrap the tissue like a present to keep the baking soda and flour inside. Place the tissue pouch inside of the volcano opening (small cup). Step 4: Measure 1/3 cup of vinegar. Add red food color to make it look like lava. Step 5: Safety Precautions: Wear eye protection and an apron incase the mixture flies out of the volcano! Step 6: To watch the volcano erupt, pour ½ of the red vinegar over the tissue. When it begins to bubble, slowly pour in the rest of the vinegar.
