That team can either make you hundreds of thousands of dollars or waste a ton of your time.

The key to building a downline that not only makes money for you but also makes a ton of money for themselves is building a strong team that knows when to ask for help and when to do things themselves. Most people in a home based business have the mentality that you should just let anyone into your team if they want to be. You’re so desperate for growth and to make some money that you’ll say yes to just about anyone. However, I recommend that you treat recruiting less like “come one come all” and more like an actual job interview. As a home based business owner I’ve seen just about everything. I’ve set up meetings with people only to find that they don’t show up and sometimes when they do they hardly treat it like a professional experience. I’ve spoken to people wearing house shoes and flannel pants. I’ve also talked to people who were so annoyed and so condescending that they made me feel like I was committing a crime by telling them about my business. I said all that to say this. If you want to make serious money you’ve got to get serious about the people you let on your team. If you’re talking to someone who wants to be in control and acts annoyed every time you speak to them you need to remind yourself that you’re offering them a huge opportunity. Either they want it or they don’t but you always need to be in control of the conversation. If you let just anybody onto your team you’re going to get a bunch of whiners and complainers. However, when you are selective and you find strong, intelligent and passionate people to be a part of your team you won’t be able to stop the money from rolling in. I’d much rather have a team of 100 people who are excited and motivated than a team of 100,000 who aren’t doing anything and who are complaining the whole time.

When you start being more selective about your team members your paycheck will grow by leaps and bounds.
