HoTDoC Home Technology and Domotics Control help your home help you

Literature results – What’s known • Main focus on disabled persons or the elderly  Less focus on other type of users • Situations in which domotics can be applied  Are very heterogeneous  Require wide variety of heterogeneous communication, network technologies and protocols

Existing systems results – What’s done • The technology exists quite some time, but isn’t ‘really’ established • Providers  mostly focus on small variety of domotic possibilities and devices  provide support for their own devices  (Exception: webee) • <> Open source community  focus on a wide variety of existing device technologies  mostly focus on an the same few domotic categories  high personalization and flexibility  very complex and require some technical skills  not really SOTA user-centred designs

Analysis results – What’s used • Devices used for simplifying, automating, controlling and configuring the household, home-environment and security are  predictable  tackling daily needs. • Domotic-system is not really a system, but merely a collection of unrelated heterogeneous devices. • Remote controlling and configuration of these devices and bringing this together into one single system can be of great (future) help for  achieving our goals  simplifying and handling our audience’s needs more efficiently

Added value – What’s next • Automating and simplifying our audience’s daily activities in their current home environment by adding domotic devices, united into one control and configuration dashboard. • Focus on the automation, simplifying, controlling and configuration of domotic-systems related to household, home-environment and security. • No focus on devices, focus on our users. • No focus on specific devices, manufactures and device and communication technologies. Open- and multiplatform. • Focus on remote controlling and configuration with a tablet or smartphone both in an ad hoc fashion, but also for scheduling tasks and creating scenarios. • Adding augmented reality features for simplifying the needs.
