For such a popular operating system, there is a lot about it you might not know. Android is open source and considered a Linux-based system. You might assume Android was always a Google product, but this is not the case. The original Android operating system was in development as early as 2003, and back then it was owned by a company known as Android Inc. Google backed the project initially and later on bought the company; many believe this was a way to compete with the iPhone. The Android operating system was originally revealed in 2007, though the first phone running it wasn’t released until 2008 and you can buy with cool gadgets . The Start: The Start In 2008, Android 1.0 came out on the HTC Dream. It introduced the Android Market, though at the time there weren’t many applications available. While the media player was considered to be pretty terrible and you couldn’t even copy and paste information, it did have Google Sync. This was a major selling point for a lot of people as it allowed you to sync all your Google services with your phone. Version 1.1 followed in February 2009 and mostly focused on bug fixes. The first major update came in April 2009 when version 1.5 was released, dubbed Cupcake. This release brought with it the introduction of widgets and allowed for copy-pasting within the web browser. Donut 1.6 came out in September 2009 and came with a free turn-by-turn navigation app using Google Maps. Continued..: Continued.. 2.0 was released as soon as October 2009 and added HTML5 support as well as Bluetooth 2.1 support. It also allowed support for multiple screen resolutions. By May 2010, 2.2 was released and named Froyo, short for frozen yogurt. This came with the JS V8 engine in the Chrome browser, making it quite fast. There was also Adobe Flash support, voice dialing, and Android Cloud to Device messaging. Gingerbread was version 2.3 and came out December 2010. It brought Near Field Communication (NFC), making it easy to swap data between phones. Video chat using Google Talk was now possible as well. Honeycomb was considered version 3.0 and came out in February 2011, though it was exclusively developed for tablet devices. Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 changed that in October 2011, becoming the operating system that could be used on both tablets and phones. Jellybean 4.1 was announced in June 2012 and was released to the Android Open Source Project July of that year. It had better performance than previous versions, added triple buffering in graphics pipelines, and added the Google Now search app. Andriod Tv Future: Andriod Tv Future With the latest Android KitKat, you have features that work with your TV.
