The University’s vision for FutureLearn: The online platform provided by Futurelearn will give the University of Leeds the opportunity to make our inspirational, high-quality educational resources available to any individual with access to the Internet. By raising the University’s profile nationally and internationally, it will provide a key recruitment tool; by setting a standard for Leeds Open Educational Resources (OERs), it will enhance blended learning for resident students and drive the development of innovative distance and mixed-delivery programmes.

MOOC development process • Month 1-2: Initial planning meetings with academic team; development of detailed course template, MOOC costing, MOOC approval process (pedagogy group, creative design group, marketing, education committee, steering group). • Month 2-3: Content production needs agreed; academic team prepares course plans and content in conjunction with digital learning team; • Month 2-4: Content production (multimedia, e-learning elements, academic material); rights and permissions clearance for existing / third party content; course construction in platform; marketing; • Month 4-5: Course delivery preparation; MOOC delivery training; course testing in platform; • Month 6: Course delivery: academic team with support from digital learning team; post-course evaluation, content repurposing.
