Microbial Nutrition 1. Macronutrients: required in large amounts, including: carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus (Components of carbonhydrates, lipids, proteins, and mucleic acids ); potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron (cations and part of enzymes and cofactors). 2.
