Hair Loss for men and women: causes, syndromes, patterns As hair loss the most acute case of androgenic alopecia the term might sound more familiar with male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness. This is occurring in half of the men in the world and one fourth of the women in the world. Yet still there are many syndromes and causes of hair loss that is not pattern baldness and here’s the knowledge.
• Androgenic Alopecia/Pattern Baldness Androgens that is a primary male hormone and also do secrete in women but in a dormant level happen to develop a steroid called dihydrotestosteronen (DHA) through a phase called 5alpha reductase, this is a genetically inherited characteristic. The DHA happens to exhaust the hair follicles in the crown and temple and front of the scalp to cause hair loss, resulting in certain distinct patterns that typically leaves a variable amount of hair at the back of the scalp and above the ears, that closely resembles a horseshoe and this final pattern is considered a stabilised stage of hair loss when a hair transplant can be done to take the hair from the back of the scalp to distribute all about to attain hair restoration. This is the symptom of androgenic alopecia or pattern hair loss and is most common.
• Traction Alopecia and Trichotillomania Traction alopecia does not happen because of any hormonal effects as such but happens due to rigorous and continued pulling, straightening, styling and braiding most common in African-American descent men and women both to have such extravagant hair styles. In this usually the front of the scalp from the forehead gets broad and permanent hair loss, but the same can occur on other regions of the scalp regarding maximum exposure to styling.
• Other less common symptoms Alopecia areata – A genetic or autoimmune disorder that causes patchy hair loss. Triangular alopecia – Loss of hair in the temporal areas often in children, its cause is unknown. Loose-anagen syndrome – Loose hair follicles mainly in fair-hair patients.
