Slide31:  DUBAI OUTSOURCE ZONE FZ (DOZ) DOZ is keen to attract companies in the higher value skill intensive outsourcing sectors in areas such as finance, accounting, IT, payroll processing, engineering, R & D and design. DOZ will also serve as an ideal center for disaster recovery facilities for operations located offshore elsewhere in the world. DOZ is being built close to the knowledge village that will be an easy source of fresh graduate talent. DOZ is located close to leisure entertainment and tourist facilities making it attractive for knowledge workers to relocate. Dubai Outsource Zone is the first ‘free zone’ in the world dedicated to outsourcing.  It is a member of Dubai Holding and an initiative of Dubai’s Internet City, the global state-of-the-art ICT hub within Dubai that houses more than 700 of the world’s ICT companies including the ‘giants’ such as Microsoft, Oracle, HP, IBM, Dell, Siemens, Canon, Logica, EDS, Sony Ericsson, Sun Microsystems, SAP and Cisco.   Dubai Outsource Zone is the perfect base for both captive and third-party outsourcing operations to provide mid and high-end services in areas such as finance, accounting, IT, payroll processing, engineering, R&D and design. The first company to sign on as a Business Partner of IMPZ is the Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing. Slide36:  DUBAI GOLD & DIAMOND PARK (DGDP) This free zone was established in 2001 and it is spread around 0.51 million sq.feet. It is 20 kms from Dubai International Airport. This is a part of Jebel Ali Free Zone and established to promote activities related to gold and diamond trading, designing, manufacturing and crafting of gold and diamond jewellery. Special feature of this free zone is that it offers retail-shopping facility to visitors. This free zone entails all facilities required by precious metal manufacturers, traders and buyers. Retail Gold market of Dubai will be further promoted by this exclusive benefit. The Gold & Diamond Park is part of the Jebel Ali Free Zone Area, whereby all tenants can benefit from the facilities offered by the free zone authority. Tenants can form their own companies whereby they can have a 100% ownership and also easy access to obtain visas for owners and labors alike. Slide37:  DUBAI CARS AND AUTOMOTIVE ZONE (DUCAMZ) DUCAMZ was established in 2000 and it is spread around 1.00 million sq. meter of bonded area. It is 10 kms from Dubai International Airport known as Ras Al Khor area of Dubai. DUCAMZ provides excellent infrastructure with modern site to conduct their business operation. DUCAMZ was established with the objective of re-exporting used cars to the Asian and African Region where the demand exists and continues to grow. This zone is situated within the Dubai City and comprises of One Million square meters of bonded area. The location has easy access to all airport and seaports in the Region and from here, the automobile is reloaded onto feeder vessels, or on to trucks which travel throughout the region on a modern network of highways, linking all the neighboring countries in the Middle East and beyond. Slide38:  UPCOMING FREE ZONES IN UAE DUBAI CARPET ZONE (DCFZ): DCFZ is proposed for trading business of homemade carpet sector. It is to be established in Deira- Dubai. DUBAI TEXTILE VILLAGE FREEZONE: Dubai Textile City is proposed to set up in Ras Al Khor areas. This will be joint venture between Textile Merchant Group and Emirate of Dubai. The UAE textile industry with export of Dh. 12 billion is growing rapidly & is poised to become the largest trading sector after the oil industry in the UAE. The demand for textiles has led to the development of Dhs. 220 million. Dubai Textile City, which will be a free zone, thus this will increase the trading and make the textile industry a flourishing business. DUBAI AUTO PARTS CITY FZ : The setting up of a zone for auto parts, called Dubai Auto Parts City (DAPC), aiming to boost the re-exports of auto parts from Dubai. as per rough estimates, Dubai currently re-exports Dh300 to Dh400 worth of spare parts annually. Slide39:  MOHAMMED BIN RASHID FREE ZONE This park aims to smoothen and to accelerate technology transfer and to create infrastructure and external research and development facilities to global technology leaders. The objectives behind the Mohammed Bin Rashid Technology Park are manifold. Mohammed Bin Rashid Technology Park has been designed and developed after years of extensive research, and as part of phase one it will be located south of Sheikh Zayed road in Jebel Ali, covering a land area of 3 kilometres square. HEAVY EQUIPMENT AND TRUCKS ZONE (HETZ)-DUBAI: This free zone is proposed for expanding business of re-export of trucks and heavy equipment. Construction works of the project are already on at warsan area in Dubai covering allocated area of more than 7.3 million sq.meters facility. The new zone will have all facilities needed for the promotion of heavy equipment and trucks trade like administrative offices, licensing offices, banks, customs, chamber of commerce office, etc to serve the needs of the traders setting up office inside the zone. The emirates boasts of the latest amenities that any modern city offers but simultaneously retains its rich cultural heritage and traditional values. Despite the high quality of life, the cost of living index is very attractive. The social infrastructure in terms of parks, green belts and wide boulevards as well as health care and educational facilities are excellent. Sharjah is the undisputed industrial nerve centre of the UAE, accounting for 45% of the country's industrial GDP. Slide41:  SHARJAH AIRPORT INTERNATIONAL FREE ZONE (SAIF ZONE) SAIF was established in 1995 and it is spread around 10.0 million sq.meters. It is 15 km. From Dubai International Airport. SAIF is adjacent to Sharjah International Airport it is especially suitable for import, export, manufacturing, processing, packaging distribution , consolidation and storage activities. It is well connected by international road network, seaport and airport. Largest export volumes in the UAE and one of the major airports in charter operations Many multinational and medium and small size companies have entered in SAIF zone and this is most successful free zone of emirate of sharjah. Sharjah dominates half of the industrial activites in the U.A.E. with easy access to International Exhibitions hosted in the UAE and Middle East. Alternatively, one could form a legal entity right in the Saif Zone - called the : Free Zone Establishment (FZE) Free Zone Company (FZCO), or Branch of a Foreign Company Slide42:  HAMRIYAH FREE ZONE - SHARJAH ( HFZ) HFZ was established in 1995 and it is spread around 12.0 million sq.meters. If is 35 km. from Dubai International Airport. Hamriyah Free Zone is fast becoming one of the cornerstones of industrial development of the Emirates ensuring it as the Next Generation Free Zone. Hamriyah is investor oriented, and its management is flexible & dynamic. Sharjah is playing an important role in the development strategy, as home of the next- generation Hamriyah Free Zone. It has state of the art facilities and services and especially suitable for heavy industries and manufacturing process. HFZ provides multi dimensional access to neighboring and global market. This is through a 14 meter deep port for break bulk vessels, three modern sea ports in Sharjah and the near by Sharjah International Airport. Slide43:  AJMAN Strategically situated at the entrance of the Arabian Gulf, Ajman is well placed to serve the eastern and western market. Ajman's proximity to Sharjah & Dubai provides easy accessibility to two international airports and four ports. Ajman port has emerged as an important maritime local point today. The Emirate of Ajman is situated on the coast of the Arabian Gulf, extending over a distance of 16km between the emirate of Umm- Al- Quwain & Sharjah. It covers about 259 sq. km which is equivalent to the 0.3% of the country's total area. The ruler of this Emirate is His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashed Al Nuaimi. It has population of 118,812. The Emirate of Ajman has three geographical regions. They include Ajman City, Masfout region & Manama region. Slide44:  AJMAN FREE ZONE (AFZ) AFZ was established in 1988 and it is spread around 1.0-million sq. meter. It is 20 kms from Dubai International Airport. AFZ offers all the benefits found in other Free Zone with major cost benefit and economic advantages. AFZ is adjacent to the Ajman Sea Port ( Feeder Vessel ) which is serving 1000 Vessels in a year and has 12 berths. AFZ has advantage of proximity to Sea Port and Airport of Sharjah and Dubai. Strategically situated at the entrance of the Arabian Gulf, Ajman Free Zone is well placed to serve Eastern & Western markets. Ajman's proximity to Sharjah & Dubai provides easy accessibility to the two international airports & four ports. Free Zone Establishment (FZE) or Free Zone Company (FZCO) or a Branch of a Foreign Company are types of legal establishments that could be formed within the Ajman free Zone. Slide45:  UMM AL QAIWAIN Umm Al Qaiwain is located on the west coast of the United Arab Emirates. A road network of modern dual carriage highways connects Umm Al Qaiwain to various gulf countries and onward to Europe through Dubai & Sharjah international airports. Umm Al Quwain is situated between Ajman & Ras Al Khaimah on the West Coast. The ruler is His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Ahmed Al Moalla. UAQ has a population of 35, 157.This Emirate has a coastline stretching to 24kms. The total area of the emirate is about 777km. Falaj Al Moalla, an attractive natural oasis, is located 50kms southeast of Umm Al Quwain city. Sinayah Island, lying a sort distance off shore has important mangrove areas, as well as a breeding colony of endangered Socotra cormorants. UAQ's attraction lies in its long clean beaches, an enclosed lagoon & public horse riding stables. The tourism got a further boost with Dreamland - the world's largest aqua park. Slide46:  AHMED BIN RASHID FREE ZONE - (ABRFZ) UMM AL QIWAIN ABRFZ was established in 1998 and it is spread around 0.12 million square mtrs. It is 55 kms from Dubai International Airport. ABRFZ is located within Sea Port (Feeder Vessel ). The Ahmed Bin Rashed Port & Free Zone is located on the West Coast of the United Arab Emirates, in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain (UAQ). The Free Zone complex consists of 845m of quay wall with 400m capable of handling ocean-going vessels, and 118,000m² of land reserved for light Industrial Development. Standard services of water, electricity, communications, labor accommodation are all available. In addition, the Free Zone provides a comprehensive administrative and logistic support to the tenant. Slide47:  RAS AL KHAIMAH It is the fourth largest of the UAE's seven emirates. This northern emirate contains a rugged mountain border with Oman and can trace human habitation of this region back to the third millennium BC. Ras Al Khaimah is the northerly Emirate at UAE's West Coast. The total area is about 1684 sq. kms & ranks fourth among the seven emirates in terms of area. The ruler of Ras Al Khaimah is His Highness Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi. The population of this Emirate is 928, 360.There are fertile lands in Ras al Khaimah at the foot of the mountains. It also has archeological sites & tourist attractions. The economy of Ras Al Khaimah relies on the performance of the industrial, business, agricultural & service centers. There are a number of large size industries depending on local resources, as this Emirate is rich with minerals & raw materials. Recently RAK began an ambitious phase of development of infrastructure to attract industrial and commercial enterprises. Slide48:  RAS AL KHAIMAH FREE TRADE ZONE ( RAKFZ) RAKFZ was established in 2000 and it is spread over 1.88 million sq. meters. It is 100 kms from Dubai International Airport. Since incorporation less than 4 years ago, Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone Authority has licensed more than 410 companies from 33 different countries, and this figure is rapidly increasing. As the youngest of all of the Free Zones in the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone has built its international reputation and infrastructure only after careful research, planning and development, resulting in the introduction of a unique, ambitious 3 Park concept that did not exist previously in the UAE or even within the region, and the provision of premier business facilities for RAKiftz investors within other Emirates. This is only international airport, in UAE, at the Eastern Coast. Because of its beautiful location, Fujairah Government is giving top priority to the tourism industry. Moreover, several industrial projects have been implemented as well. Agriculture & Fisheries are important sectors, which are developing fast. Fujairah is rich in minerals. Some of which are utilized in a number of local industries while others are exported abroad. Fujairah abounds with gabbro rocks & the diabase minerals, which are exploited in the manufacture of rock wool, used for thermal insulation, oil refineries & in construction field. The emirate of Fujairah itself is a land endowed with remarkable beauty. Slide50:  FUJAIRAH FREE ZONE (FFZ) FFZ was established in 1987 and it is spread over 1.50 million sq. meters. It is 120 kms. from Dubai International Airport. FFZ is situated at the entrance of the Arabian Gulf, outside the Strait of Hormuz. It is well connected by International road network, seaport and airport. FFZ has advantage of proximity to Fujairah and Khorfakkan ports. The Zone Of Convenience The Strategic location of Fujairah Free Zone, the Zone of Convenience virtually at the doorstep of the emerging markets of the Middle East and CIS countries is a striking attraction for investors. Slide51:  HOW TO ESTABLISH A COMPANY IN FREE TRADE ZONES? TYPE OF LICENCES In general, most of free zones issue following types of licenses to do business. 1 TRADING LICENSES / GENERAL TRADING LICENSES A Trading license allows the holder to import, Export, Sell, Distribute and store all the items specified on license. Sales in UAE however, must be carried out through distributor or agent and it is subject to payment of custom duty. General trading license can be obtained under trading license, which allows a large number of products. 2 INDUSTRIAL LICENSE An industrial license allows the holder to import raw materials, carry out the manufacture of specified products and export the finished products to any country. Licensee's manufactured products can be sold in the UAE through a distributor or agent and it is subject to payment of custom duty. 3 SERVICE LICENSE A service license allows the holder to carry out the services specified in the license within the free zone. Slide52:  4 THE NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL LICENSE The license is designed for manufacturing companies having at least 51% ownership of GCC national. The value added to the products in the free zone must amount to minimum 40%. These license holders are eligible for duty free exports to the member states of the Arab Gulf Co Operation council. TYPE OF FREE ZONE BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT/LEGAL STRUCTURE In general, most free zones allow following types of business establishments 1 FREE ZONE ENTITY (FZE) A limited liability establishment incorporated in free zone and owned by one natural or juridical person with distinct and separate legal entity. Either a person or corporate body owns Free Zone Entity 100%. The liability of the owner is limited to the amount of paid up share capital. 5.2.2 FREE ZONE COMPANY (FZC) A limited liability company incorporated in free zone, by more than one shareholder with distinct legal entity. The liability of the owners are limited to the amount of paid up share capital. Slide53:  3 BRANCH OF FOREIGN CO. (BFC) A branch of a foreign company incorporated out side the UAE. The ownership of the company should be 100 % foreign. No formal capital is required for formation of this establishment. 4 BRANCH OF LOCAL CO. (BLC) A branch of a company registered anywhere in UAE except from other free zones. No formal capital is required for formation of this establishment.
