TIMETABLES – THE HEARTBEAT OF A HOME Family calendar : record each family member’s activities and trips on a family calendar Financial calendar : track payment cycles of credit cards, utilities, property taxes, insurance payments. Daily schedule : rising times, family mealtimes, and bedtimes give young ones security and help them to learn the rhythm of life. Timetables aim to give structure to life, never stifle or create conflict.

SPACES – CREATE FLOW AND ENERGY The look of our home affects everyone’s attitude about our family and how we treat each other. Clear surfaces -- Habits of neatness relieve the pressure of living in a tangle of clutter. Pick-me-up – train each family member to pick up after himself: plates and cups, clothes, school books, cell phones, all personal gear. Ten-minute tidy with each person in charge of a room can work wonders in an organized home. Beauty for eyes, ears and hands -- Decorate! Make your home beautiful by using your own special touch. ASSIGNMENTS – SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES Enforce or encourage? Encourage them while they are working. A treat as soon as chores are done helps, too – something simple – a popsicle, a cookie, an apple to slice and share. Return on your investment: Have a family meeting each week to encourage the kids to keep up the good work. They are learning life skills, and the house stays fresh!
