Description

Asset integrity is an extremely broad field. It encompasses a rigorous series of activities that are designed to ensure that an asset can perform its required function effectively and safely. Within a company there are well established procedures in place to verify asset integrity.

Obsolescence of an asset has a direct impact on asset integrity. If manufacturer support or spare parts are no longer available then this can have a direct impact on the integrity of the asset.

For a variety of reasons, today there are limited / no connections between Operators and Manufacturers. ORDITAL is creating the social network to connect assets of Operators and products of Manufacturers to enable sharing of information that is relevant to each party (such as obsolescence & supersession to name a couple).

ORDITAL is seeking Operators in the Oil & Gas and Mining industry to become Early Adopters of this technology to help deliver competitive advantage to their business.

Asset Integrity – Obsolescence • Asset Integrity – Ensuring an asset can perform its required function effectively and safely. • Asset Obsolescence – Replacement parts becoming unavailable – Replacement products selected and a thorough safety review required • Asset Integrity Management – Comprehensive range of activities required – Typically disconnected from Manufacturer – Obsolescence often overlooked © ORDITAL 6

Obsolescence compromises Integrity © ORDITAL 7 • LNG Plant generating $5M/day in revenue • Safety Critical Control Valve fails – Purchase price of Control Valve ~$1,000 – Control Valve was correctly defined in SAP PM • All BOM’s, Task Lists, Maintenance Plans Correct • Work Orders correctly scheduled and completed • Operator learns Control Valve is obsolete after failure – No replacement product or parts available – Engineering / Safety / Procurement cycle required • Impact of failure – Plant shut down for 4 days – $20M lost revenue • Control Valve had been obsolete for 2 years prior to plant commissioning and nobody knew.
