FleCCSnet Aims • Produce design and operating guidelines for CCS pipeline networks that specifically address – networks reacting effectively to short, medium and long term variations in the availability and flow of CO2 from capture plants – and also responding to the constraints imposed on the system by the ability (or otherwise) of CO2 storage facilities to accept variable flow • Underpinning research in two work packages – Capture and storage controls on flow variation (Edinburgh) – Transient pipeline network analysis (Newcastle)

Scenario Building • Baseline: individual base load plant with CCS – Steady state with start-up / shut-downs – Realistic maintenance strategy – No interim storage • Capture variations: individual plant and/or cluster – Power plant place in merit order, unplanned outages etc – CO2 capture technology choice, potential interim storage – Range of sources etc for cluster • Injection/storage variations: design and operation – Well design and tie-ins (existing or new?) – Delivery pressure (short/long-term, EOR and/or storage?) – Maintenance schedules
