Nuclear war to break out in South Asia 12.05.2009 Source: Pravda.Ru The danger of a nuclear war in the world will remain even if Russia and the United States agree to reduce their strategic offensive arms. Asia’s nuclear powers - India and Pakistan – do not intend to follow the example of the two superpowers. The ongoing standoff in South Asia may lead to catastrophic consequences for the whole world. The conflict between India and Pakistan lasts for over 60 years already. Their confrontation became especially dangerous after 1998, when both India and Pakistan conducted a series of nuclear tests and showed the world their ability to build nuclear weapons. India has never concealed an intention to possess nuclear weapons. The nuclear doctrine was approved in the nation in 2001. It is worthy of note that India never signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Indian government believes that it has a full right to possess nuclear arms just like Russia, the USA, China, France and Great Britain. In accordance with the nuclear doctrine, India ’s nuclear arsenal will have the air, the ground and the sea constituents. The country’s Air Force already has nuclear-capable Mirage-2000, MiG-27 and Jaguar aircraft. It also has ground-based ballistic missiles. India does not have nuclear submarines yet, but it may become a reality very soon. Pakistan is India’s primary potential enemy. China can also be a threat to one of Asia’s largest nations. The Indian nuclear program of the 1960s was a response to its own defeat, which the nation suffered as a result of the border war with China in 1962. Several dozens of nuclear warheads will be enough for India to contain Pakistan. Even if Pakistan launches a massive attack against India’s vast territory, it will be impossible to destroy most of the Indian strategic nuclear arms. Quite on the contrary: India’s nuclear retaliation with the use of 15-20 nukes will cause much bigger damage to Pakistan, which is a lot smaller in size. India has 115 nukes at the moment. About 80 warheads will be enough to destroy Pakistan entirely. However, India will not be able to attack China afterwards. The latter has 410 nuclear warheads. Therefore, India will most likely try to enlarge its nuclear potential. Pakistan possesses nuclear arms as a nuclear deterrent against a possible attack from India. In addition, Pakistan aims to reduce India’s predominance in other arms. Pakistan has all chances to build 40-45 nuclear warheads. The country has ballistic missiles too. A nuclear blow in South Asia can result in a global catastrophe. The population of India and Pakistan totals over one billion people. The two countries do not have any means of protection against a nuclear attack. Even a minor nuclear explosion will kill millions of people and trigger a humanitarian catastrophe.
Iran says it tests missile, Israel within range TEHRAN, Iran – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran test-fired a new advanced missile Wednesday with a range of about 1,200 miles, far enough to strike Israel, southeastern Europe and U.S. bases in the Middle East. The announcement will not reassure the U.S. government, coming just two days after President Barack Obama declared a readiness to seek deeper international sanctions against Iran if it shunned U.S. attempts to open negotiations on its nuclear program. Obama said he expected a positive response to his outreach for opening a dialogue with Iran by the end of the year. quot;Defense Minister (Mostafa Mohammad Najjar) has informed me that the Sajjil-2 missile, which has very advanced technology, was launched from Semnan and it landed precisely on the target,quot; state radio quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. He spoke during a visit to the city of Semnan, 125 miles east of the capital Tehran, where Iran's space program is centered. Ahmadinejad is running for re-election in a June 12 vote and has been criticized by his opponents and others for antagonizing the U.S. and mismanaging the country's faltering economy. Most Western analysts believe Iran does not yet have the technology to produce nuclear weapons, including warheads for long-range missiles. A group of U.S. and Russian scientists said in a report issued Tuesday that Iran could produce a simple nuclear device in one to three years and a nuclear warhead in another five years after that. The study published by the nonpartisan EastWest Institute also said Iran is making advances in rocket technology and could develop a ballistic missile capable of firing a 2,200-pound nuclear warhead up to 1,200 miles quot;in perhaps six to eight years.quot; Iran says its missile program is merely for defense and its space program is for scientific and surveillance purposes. It maintains that its nuclear program is for civilian energy uses only. The solid-fuel Sajjil-2 surface-to-surface missile is a new version of the Sajjil missile, which Iran said it had successfully tested late last year with a similar range. Iran's nuclear and missile programs have alarmed Israel, and the country's new prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, pressed Obama to step up pressure on Tehran when the two met in Washington on Monday. Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for Israel's elimination, and the Jewish state has not ruled out a military strike to deal with the Iranian nuclear threat.
22-Year-Old Bride Had Brief, Wild Ride With 84 Lumber Millionaire Kristin Georgi's Quickie Marriage To Joe Hardy Ended Quickly, Too May 21, 2009 MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. -- She was born in '84, and he was 84 -- in more ways than one. quot;It was amazing to wake up and hop on your jet and be in your house in Florida in two hours,quot; said Kristin Georgi, who became 84 Lumber magnate Joe Hardy's third wife after a quickie Las Vegas wedding. Less than five months later, the 84-year-old Hardy called the couple's home life quot;intolerablequot; and divorced his then-22-year-old bride. Georgi now lives in a modest home in Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County. But inside, there are remnants of a more extravagant life. quot;This is Christian Dior. This is Dolce and Gabana. These are Chanel,quot; Georgi said Tuesday, during an interview with WTAE Channel 4's Andrew Stockey. quot;These were a couple hundred dollars. These were, I think, $1,000. These have never been worn.quot; Outrageously expensive shoes and handbags are just some of the trappings from the days Georgi spent living the good life with Hardy, whom she met while working at his Nemacolin Woodlands Resort spa in March 2007. quot;He would tell me, 'If you see something you like, get four or five of them,' and, I would say, 'I cannot do that. These are Chanel sunglasses, I cannot get four or five pairs,'quot; Georgi said. Georgi said the relationship began as a friendship -- a very generous one, which included a Porsche as an Easter present to her. The next gift was a wedding ring. quot;It wasn't, like, very romantic or anything like that,quot; she said. quot;It was just, like, here, do you like this ring? And I was like, 'Yeah,' and he was like, 'It's yours,' and it was inscribed and all that.quot; Despite their 62-year-age difference, Georgi said that Hardy quot;made it seem like a win-win situation. He just made it seem like, literally, you don't have anything to lose, you will have the world at your fingertips, and he promised me the world.quot; For a while, Hardy delivered. His new bride enjoyed worldwide travel that summer to Budapest, Madrid, Paris, Italy and London, and her 2-year-old son, Matthew, got a pet tiger. The lavish lifestyle could not overcome the newlyweds' incompatibility. Georgi said they divorced because Hardy's life was too fast for her -- not because of their difference in age. The couple announced their divorce in August 2007 and approved by a judge in April 2008. quot;Everyone asks, 'Wasn't it weird?'quot; Georgi said. quot;It really wasn't because he was very young at heart. So, he was very hard for me to keep up with ... When you climb on your own jet for the 10th time and everything in four days -- Europe was crazy -- and we were in each place for a day and a half. It was a bit too fast-paced for me,quot; Georgi said. Georgi said she left the relationship with some money, but she believes that size of the settlement vindicates her.

U.S. Mood Map: Kentucky Saddest, Hawaii Gladdest? April 29, 2009—Never mind depressed real estate values—the old mantra quot;location, location, locationquot; may be just as important to your mental health, a new U.S. government report suggests. This county-by-county map shows the percentages of residents who reported quot;frequent mental distressquot; (FMD)—defined as 14 or more days of emotional discomfort, including quot;stress, depression and problems with emotion,quot; during the previous month. Three days of mental distress is considered average, the researchers say. Over the course of two random telephone surveys —one administered between 1993 and 2001, the other between 2003 and 2006—a team from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) asked a total of 2.4 million adults about their mental health. The study found that you're most likely to suffer periods of depression, stress, or other emotional problems if you live in the United States' Appalachian or Mississippi Valley regions—or at least that you're most likely to admit it to government survey takers. Kentucky had the highest level of frequent mental distress, with 14.4 percent of residents reporting prolonged mental health problems, according to the report, to be published in the June 2009 issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. In the continental U.S., FMD prevalence was lowest—below 8 percent—in the upper Midwest, including Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa, the team says. Perhaps not surprisingly, Hawaii residents were least likely to report periods of mental distress.
2 Yellowstone workers fired after watering geyser AP CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Two seasonal Yellowstone National Park concession workers have been fired after a live webcam caught them urinating into the Old Faithful geyser. Park spokesman Al Nash says a 23-year-old man on Tuesday was fined $750 and placed on three years of unsupervised probation for urinating, being off trail in a restricted area and taking items from the area. The man also was banned from Yellowstone for two years. The second employee's case is pending. The park's dispatch center was called after someone watching a webcam on the geyser saw six employees leaving the trail and walking on Old Faithful on May 4. The geyser was not erupting at the time. Xanterra Parks & Resorts general manager Jim McCaleb says the former concession workers were hired at the Old Faithful Inn and that such incidents were rare.

Gambler blew $2m in 43 minutes May 19, 2009 – The Sydney Morning Herald A compulsive gambler was banned from Crown Casino after he blew more than $2 million in 43 minutes, a court has been told. Harry Kakavas allegedly told casino chief operating officer John Williams in August 2006 that he was feeling quot;deflatedquot; having lost $30 million over four months. Mr Williams urged Mr Kakavas to take a break from gambling at the casino, the Victorian Supreme Court was told today. But Mr Kakavas, a high flying Gold Coast property developer, replied he was quot;finequot; and proceeded to play games of baccarat, losing more than $2 million in 43 minutes, the court was told. Mr Kakavas is suing Crown for $20.5 million he claims he lost gambling in the Melbourne casino. He alleges Crown allowed him to play despite knowing he was a pathological gambler who was banned from other casinos. The court was told that, during a period of 16 months, Mr Kakavas turned over $1.5 billion in bets at the casino. It is claimed Mr Kakavas, who was at times allowed to bet hands of $300,000, lost a total of $30 million including money from commissions he received from the casino. Crown's lawyer Neil Young, QC, said it was after Mr Kakavas lost more than $2 million in under an hour that he was stopped from gambling at the casino. Mr Young said that, in the months after the ban, Mr Kakavas attended the casino on several occasions without gambling. He also made calls to the casino asking to be allowed to gamble again, but was refused. Mr Young rejected accusations that the Crown had taken advantage of a compulsive gambler. quot;There was no effort in any sense of the word to lure Mr Kakavas to Crown,quot; he said. The trial before Justice David Harper is continuing. AAP
Man's Relationship With Dog Moves Beyond Petting: Sheriff NBCWashington.com SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. -- A Spotsylvania man's family turned him in to police after he admitted to quot;fooling aroundquot; with the family dog, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office. Robert John Ward, 66, was arrested Monday for alleged bestiality. Deputies began investigating Ward after a family member called authorities with the allegation. Ward admitted to a deputy that he had touched the dog inappropriately and that he'd had the dog perform sexual acts on him, according to the sheriff's office. A vet examined the dog and found that her anal glands were swollen, the sheriff's office said. The accusing relative said the dog had been acting strange for several weeks. Ward's being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
China to open first sex theme park Love Land in Chongqing aims to address taboo and improve sex education but many residents see it as vulgar Maybe it was the giant revolving model of a woman's legs and lower torso, clad only in an unflattering crimson thong, or perhaps it was the oversized replica of a set of genitals. Either way, many residents in the south-west city of Chongqing are not happy about the development of China's first sex theme park, which has been described as quot;vulgarquot; and inappropriate. The park manager, Lu Xiaoqing, who was inspired by South Korea's popular sex theme park in Jeju, says that Love Land, due to open in October, will improve sex education and help adults enjoy a harmonious sex life. Inside, visitors will be able to view naked human sculptures, giant replicas of genitals and an exhibition about the history of sex and sexual practices in other countries. The park will also offer sex technique workshops and advise on anti-Aids measures and using condoms properly. quot;Sex is a taboo subject in China but people really need to have more access to information about it,quot; Lu told the state newspaper China Daily. quot;We are building the park for the good of the public. I have found that the majority of people support my idea, but I have to pay attention and not make the park look vulgar and nasty.quot; But Liu Daiwei, a female police officer in Chongqing, complained: quot;These things are too exposed. I will feel uncomfortable looking at them when other people are around.quot; A commenter on the popular Sina website said Chinese people did not treat sex as boldly as foreigners, adding: quot;These vulgar sex installations will only make people sick.quot; But another commenter said Chinese people needed sex education, promising: quot;I will visit the park when I go to Chongqing.quot; Li Yinhe, an expert on sexual attitudes at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that in ancient times Chinese people had more positive attitudes towards sex. They became more ascetic during the Song and Ming dynasties, but this trend peaked at the end of the Cultural Revolution. Since the 80s that had reversed, she said, adding: quot;The fact that the park has been built shows the change and that open attitudes to sex are now mainstream.quot; One of her research projects showed that in Beijing the percentage of people having premarital sex rose from under 16% in 1989 to over 60% in 2004. Li said that while disapproval of sex stemmed from religion in the west, in China it was largely rooted in a traditional focus on the family instead of individual enjoyment – leading people to deplore premarital and extramarital sex. quot;But people will become more tolerant and have positive attitudes towards sex; for example, people [already] care more about female orgasm. I read a report saying in the west about 90% of women have experienced orgasm, but in China the number is only 28%,quot; she said.
What Do Americans Want? Legal Pot, White House Online Survey Reports 5-18-2009 Forget about the economic crisis, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and saving Social Security: An online opinion survey released by the White House this week ranks legalizing pot, playing online poker and cracking down on Scientologists as far more important issues. The results are part of a quot;Citizen's Briefing Book,quot; which compiles the results of an online project launched by President Obama's transition office to solicit policy ideas from the citizenry. More than 125,000 users submitted 1.4 million votes during the wide-open process, leading to results that clearly do not align with recent scientific polling. Legalizing marijuana, for example, ranked as the most popular issue. Ending federal prosecutions for medicinal marijuana also ranked high, as did ending the war on drugs. quot;We must stop imprisoning responsible adult citizens choosing to use a drug that has been mislabeled for over 70 years,quot; said one respondent named quot;Matt.quot; This is not the first time that Obama has been hounded by Web-proficient marijuana supporters. One of the most popular questions submitted to an quot;online town hallquot; hosted by Obama in March was whether legalizing marijuana would help grow the economy; the president said he didn't think it was a good strategy. As might be obvious from the results, this was not a scientific survey. Online, opt-in surveys such as this one are not generated using a random sample of Americans, which is necessary to take a representative measure of public sentiment. In the most recent Gallup polling on the most important problem facing the nation, the economy continued to hold the top spot, with 76 percent citing it as their top priority. No other issue was mentioned by more than seven percent of adults nationwide. The Washington Post

L.A. Unleashed Nebraska couple appear in court in cat bong case May 19, 2009 Acea Schomaker, the 20-year-old Nebraska man cited for misdemeanor animal cruelty in March for allegedly placing a cat inside a homemade bong and exposing it to marijuana smoke, appeared in court for a second time today. A June 30 hearing was set for Schomaker; the hearing will determine if his case will go to trial, according to Nebraska's KOLN/KGIN news. Schomaker's 22-year-old girlfriend, Marissa Vieux, also faces animal cruelty charges and appeared in court today. A June 8 jury trial date was set for Vieux. Both Schomaker and Vieux pleaded not guilty last month, and Schomaker says he had no intention of harming the cat, a 6-month-old female named Shadow, by subjecting it to marijuana. Vieux says she adopted Shadow from friends who had abused her. Apparently the traumatized cat came with behavior problems, and Schomaker claims he only placed her in the bong to soothe her. quot;Every time we took her out she would pretty much just lay down and proceed to clean herself and act like a stoned person,quot; he has said. Shadow was seized from the couple and taken to a local humane society.
The Huffington Post Editor of satirical news site The National Protrusion.com May 20, 2009 03:56 AM Guantanamo Detainee Suggests Moving Guantanamo Detainees to Ramada Inn Guantanamo Bay, Cuba - Omar Nazirr, an Afghani who has been in U.S. custody at the military prison at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base since 2003, said he has a suggestion for where to put detainees of the prison camp once it closes. Nazirr says the 240 detainees could be moved to a Ramada Inn off I-95 in Maryland. quot;I've been there,quot; Nazirr said. quot;It's nice.quot; President Obama has ordered the Guantanamo prison camp closed by January 22, 2010. There has been a heated debate in recent days over the issue of relocating the detainees following the prison's closure. Democrats this week refused to grant funds to close the camp until the White House offers a concrete plan for transferring the detainees. Nazirr says he can help solve this problem. quot;I'll help out the U.S. on this,quot; he said through a fence to reporters standing outside the prison gates. quot;The Ramada Inn in Perryville, Maryland has plenty of rooms for all of us detainees. I stayed there when I was in the U.S. to study, many years ago. Before you decided I was an enemy combatant. Trust me, it will fit us all, no problem.quot; Nazirr said because the Ramada Inn is affordable, it might end up saving the United States money. quot;I bet you it's cheaper than running Guantanamo Bay,quot; he said. quot;I bet you can get a good rate, too, if you get a whole bunch of rooms. I don't want to tell you your business, but two to a room is probably a reasonable arrangement. So that's 120 rooms. You'll get an amazing rate. Maybe say it's a wedding. I don't know.quot;
The World’s Most Muscular Dog It seems like the result of a Worth 1000 Photoshop competition, or perhaps a sadistic dog owner who put their poor pup on steroids. But Wendy, a whippet from Central Saanich, British Columbia is rippling with muscle due to mutated genes. Breeders often try for one mutated gene because it makes whippets run even faster than usual, but Wendy here got two, hence the double muscle on her average-sized frame.

19th – Century Pregnant Dolls May 14, 2009 In the 18th and 19th centuries, sideshow carnivals known as misemono were a popular form of entertainment for the sophisticated residents of Edo (present-day Tokyo). The sideshows featured a myriad of educational and entertaining attractions designed to evoke a sense of wonder and satisfy a deep curiosity for the mysteries of life. One popular attraction was the pregnant doll. Although it is commonly believed that these dolls were created primarily to teach midwives how to deliver babies, evidence suggests they were also used for entertainment purposes.
Friday, May 15, 2009 Cuffed karate master kicked into jail summit daily news Summit County, Colorado A man with a history of violence was arrested on the Interstate-70 median last week after swinging a set of nunchucks in front of an officer with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. He was wearing a full-length trenchcoat and declared he was kicked off a bus in Silverthorne while on his way from Denver to Los Angeles. The man said he had been “riding the bus when he saw a girl with the ‘swine flu’ and attempted to eliminate her by grabbing her throat,” according to the SCSO report. Another passenger hit the man and he was thrown off the bus before he got into a fight with a gang at a gas station in Silverthorne, the man said. Authorities found the man after receiving a call that he was in the I-70 median waving his arms at cars and screaming. As the officer approached, the man turned his back, hiding his hands. When the man turned around, the officer spotted the nunchucks in his pants waistband. Asked if he was carrying the weapon, the man responded: “Yeah, I am a karate master!” The man began to swing the nunchucks around his upper body. The officer aimed a Taser X-26 at the man, decided he was too far away, and began reaching for his handgun. The karate master dropped the nunchucks and began to walk away. A knife and some marijuana was discovered on the man, in addition to the traditional Asian weapon. En route to Summit County Jail, the man told the officer “that he was 468 years old, and was being hunted across the country by priests, nuns and monks,” according to the report. He said he had just gotten out of prison after a prior assault in which he was shot in the foot by Denver Police Department. Although the man acknowledged that he’s prohibited from owning nunchucks in Colorado, he said he could just get another pair if the ones he was carrying were taken. He also talked to imaginary people while riding to the jail. After the man was taken inside the jail, the officer inspected the back of the patrol car and found two .40 caliber handgun rounds. But no gun was found on the man or on the highway, and the man said he didn’t know where the rounds came from. A background check showed assault, violence charges and several felony convictions in the past 10 years. The karate master was booked with charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, felony menacing, felony weapons possession by a previous offender and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Marijuana potency surpasses 10 percent, U.S. say CNN OXFORD, Mississippi (CNN) -- The average potency of marijuana, which has risen steadily for three decades, has exceeded 10 percent for the first time, the U.S. government will report on Thursday. Mahmoud ElSohly says marijuana's potency will continue to rise before tailing off in the next five years. Scientists working for the government predict that potency, as measured by the drug's concentration of the psychoactive ingredient THC, will continue to rise. At the University of Mississippi's Potency Monitoring Project, where thousands of samples of seized marijuana are tested every year, project director Mahmoud ElSohly said some samples have THC levels exceeding 30 percent. Average THC concentrations will continue to climb before leveling off at 15 percent or 16 percent in five to 10 years, ElSohly predicted. The stronger marijuana is of particular concern because high concentrations of THC have the opposite effect of low concentrations, officials say. In addition, while experienced marijuana users may limit their intake of potent marijuana, young and inexperienced users may not moderate their intake and possibly suffer from dysphoria, paranoia, irritability and other negative effects. Increasing potency is leading to higher admissions to emergency rooms and drug treatment programs, officials say. The average THC for tested marijuana during 2008 was 10.1 percent, according to the government, compared to 1983 when it was reportedly under 4 percent. Even drugs seized at the United States' southwest border are showing increasing potency, the Office of National Drug Control Policy says. The median potency increased from 4.8 percent in 2003 to 7.3 percent in 2007. Marijuana from Mexico and other southern sources traditionally had lower THC content than other sources'.

Spanish cities top league for cocaine-laced air 16 th May 2009 Air pollution has long been a fact of life in Spanish cities. But scientists now say it is not just smog that fills people’s lungs as they walk to work or stroll through the park. A new study has found the air in Madrid and Barcelona is also laced with large amounts of drugs - most prominently cocaine. Other illegal substances found were amphetamines, heroin, cannabis and LSD. Government experts from the Superior Council of Scientific Investigations said the levels were far higher than elsewhere in Europe. Researchers found cocaine in concentrations of up to 850 picograms per cubic metre of air. A similar study in Italy found a maximum concentration of only 100 picograms per cubic metre in Rome. This may be because Spain is the continent’s largest consumer of cocaine and hashish. It is also a major transit point for narcotics shipments from South and Central America as well as Africa. The group said the study showed higher concentrations of the components on weekends, suggesting that drug consumption was up in these periods. The scientists detected drug by placing quartz microfiber filters in the air-testing stations. But despite the findings, the council said there was no reason for alarm. ‘Not even if we lived for a thousand years would we consume the equivalent of a dose of cocaine by breathing this air,’ scientist Miren Lopez de Alda said. She stressed that ‘in no case should these levels be considered representative of the air in the two cities’ and that tests were done in areas where drugs were likely to be consumed. In Madrid, the test site was close to a ruined building believed to be frequented by drug dealers. And in both Madrid and Barcelona, the studies were carried out close to universities. MailOnline
The Nipple Non Grata project by Loreffrey Studios. The Loreffrey Studios took a couple of photographs with their top off and then digitally removing their nipples ... quot;By digitally removing a woman's nipples, have we desexualized her? If so, is the mainstream American media responding to societal demand for some kind of quot;pretendquot; decency in magazines and ads? Does nipple removal let us flirt with feminine sexuality without corssing the boundaries of quot;good tastequot;? What does this say about American culture? Does it reflect a certain type of hycorisy? Does this approach further objectify women as plastic objects or playthings? You know, the one where schlub is sitting on a bench eating an Arby’s cheeseburger, when this totally hot blonde shows up and starts walking toward him, and he thinks she’s looking at someone else, but it turns out it’s all him? She then gives him her phone number on a sheet of paper, only his hands are so greasy from the cheeseburger he smears her number. Great commercial.
