slide 1: A Trip to Library By Juniors Seniors On 19 th Jan 2018 slide 2: Introduction Reading is one of the best activities to provide the foundational language and literacy skills for a child to succeed. Research shows that reading actually aids in brain development especially in the childs first five years of life. slide 3: when kids are read to their brain cells are literally turned on and existing links among brain cells are strengthened and new cell links are formed. Children begin to learn early literacy skills at birth through everyday interactions such as sharing books telling stories singing songs talking to one another or pointing out and naming objects. We at Iris Florets Suncity realized the significance of inculcating the habit of reading from the childhood and hence took children to the KidEngage Library located near Manikonda. All the children had a wonderful experience. slide 14: Learning Outcome • Expands their vocabularies broaden and enrich their experiences and stimulate brain development. • Promotes their critical and imaginative thinking. • Improves their intellectual and emotional development and helps them acquire the pre-reading skills needed for reading success in school. • Early literacy refers to what children know about reading and writing before they actually learn to read and write. It is not the teaching of reading but instead involves the building of a foundation for reading so when children are taught to read they will be ready.
