slide 1: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SSC EXAM Being successful is not a choice but a prerequisite for happiness. In India being a government employee is a mark of security. Hundreds of millions of young aspirants are competing hard with each other for several fixed official posts. In this wide range of Competitive Exams one of the most difficult and prestigious ones is SSC CGL. Lets’ take a look at it step by step. slide 2: WHAT IS SSC CGL For various posts in the Central Government Ministries Organizations and Departments the Staff Selection Commission SSC Combined Graduate Level Examinations CGL are held annually. They are national level examinations for Gazetted and Non- Gazetted posts. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s Level Degree from a recognized Institute or University at the time of applying. The age limit for this exam is from 18 to 27 years but it may vary according to posts. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category aspirants. HOW TO APPLY Once the notification is out you can fill the form online by visiting their official website. You will be needing some documents to fill in the required entries. There is an option of online payment for fee submission or you can get a bank challan. The nominal fee for unreserved category is Rs. 100 while it is free for reserved category students. slide 3: SELECTION PROCESS This exam is conducted in various tiers. After completion of each tier the results are put on the website. Based on the performance in one tier the candidates are selected for the next. Tier I: Preliminary Exam - Computer Based Examination MCQ Tier II: Main Examination - Computer Based Examination MCQ Tier III: Pen and Paper Mode Descriptive paper Tier IV: Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test wherever applicable/ Document Verification From January 1 2016 all the interviews in the Central Government Non-Gazetted posts have been dispensed off. PAPER PATTERN Tier I: It consists of 4 sections- General Intelligence and Reasoning Quantitative Ability English Comprehension and General Awareness. slide 4: Each section has 25 questions one question carries 2 marks and there’s a penalty of 0.5 marks for each incorrect question. Overall you are marked out of 200. The total time available is 75 minutes. Tier II: This too consists of 2-4 sections depending on your application of post: Quantitate Ability English Language and Comprehension Statistics for JSO General Studies – Finance and Economics for Assistant Audit or Accounts Officer Each section has 100 questions one question carries 2 marks and there’s a penalty of 0.5 marks for each incorrect question. Overall you are marked out of 200. You will get a total of 120 minutes for each paper. Tier III: A pen and paper descriptive essay type examination in either English or Hindi. Tier IV: This is conducted only for certain posts where your Computer Proficiency or other skills are required. SSC CGL is not a hard nut to crack if you know how to prepare and what sources to refer to.
