Every child has the right to live While Moldova is among the few countries in the world which managed to cut more than twice the child mortality rate, there are alarming health inequities. The under-five mortality rate remains several times higher than in many European countries. Poverty and social exclusion are often at the root. To address these issues UNICEF is working with Government and communities to strengthen the health system and reduce geographic and social disparities. Our priority is to improve the access of most vulnerable to basic healthcare services. We work to save the lives of youngest children and ensure safe delivery for pregnant women. We also promote sustained breastfeeding and immunization of children to give them the best nutritional and healthy start in life.
