I used InDesign to make the double page spread for my magazine. The left image is the left page of the double page spread as it was exported from Photoshop. I used InDesign to import the article onto the image and separate it into columns. I also used it to add in an image, the filmstrip that I created in Photoshop, and used the text wrap features to make it fit on the page. I also used to page setup features to combine the left and right side of the double page spread and to ensure it was the correct size.
I used Prezi to make interactive presentations for various parts of my coursework. Prezi makes presentations extremely userfriendly as the user can navigate through the presentation at their own pace with options to go back and forth as well as zooming in and out on certain aspects of the presentation such as text, which allows for use of smaller text as it can be zoomed in on. Prezi has a range of different templates which can be used for different subjects, and can also be edited to suit your needs. One example of this, is that I used a template of a record player for a presentation about my music magazine.
In Photoshop, I used the “Quick Selection” tool to remove the background of the image for my cover. This gave me the image on a transparent background which could then be dragged onto other images. I then changed the background colour in colour settings to the light blue I wanted the cover to be and changed the background contents settings to “Background Color” on the canvas preset “International paper”, which is A4, the size of magazines. I then dragged the image onto the background which created the base for my cover. I also did some basic photo editing such as a “soft light” fill layer and change in brightness settings to adjust the lightness of the photo and make it look more professional and achieve the final outcome of the image.
I used SlideShare to upload PowerPoint presentations made at various points throughout the process of this coursework. It is more interactive than Scribd but less than Prezi as it is a simple format in which you can click back and forth through the slides.
I used Scribd to upload some of my research/planning that was in the form of a PowerPoint presentation or Word document. Scribd presents these files as images which can be scrolled through rather than a presentation, which allows for fast and convenient viewing. Scribd only requires you to upload a file and doesn’t require any further editing/design.
