LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT? AS Media Studies Coursework Evaluation, Question 7
How have you developed your skills and knowledge since you constructed your preliminary task? Front Cover I feel I've developed my skills significantly since the preliminary task. I have learned how to target a specific audience accordingly. I have also learned how to edit and modify the main image in an effective manner, such as using the magic wand tool in PhotoShop. Finally, I've learned how to use an effective and matching colour scheme throughout the whole cover. In the preliminary task, it is obvious that I used random colours in any order, whereas in the real task, my colour scheme is much more clean and tidy, as well as matching my music genre.
How have you developed your skills and knowledge since you constructed your preliminary task? Contents Page Looking back, my preliminary contents page was very plain. I am glad that there is an obvious improvement in my real task. Instead of using and image as the background like I did in the preliminary task, It was a good effect to just used graded colours, with images added on top . The text doesn't stand out as it does in my real task which is good to know, as I have improved my skills drastically. I chosen to feature models for the contents page than just featuring an object, like in my preliminary task. Text is easier to read which shows how I realised that audiences need to able to read cover lines and other aspects of my magazines.
How have you developed your skills and knowledge since you constructed your preliminary task? Double Page Spread I obviously cannot compare my double page spread as the preliminary task as a whole didn't include one. Although I can still discuss where I got my ideas from. From independent research, I found out that most magazines feature a picture that covers a whole page, and the same with a piece of text, which is why I chose to include this media convention in my double page spread. I also learned that using quotations from the text was common feature of magazines, which again is why I used this convention in my double page spread.
