ENTRAPPED MANAGERS: ENTRAPPED MANAGERS B M NAMAZI M.TECH,MBA(O),MBA(M),MFM ENTRAPPED MANAGERS: ENTRAPPED MANAGERS The increase in competition in the global industrial arena had given many new concepts which interestingly deserves more attention. The concepts which have not yet being developed but evolved out of the present situation can be distinguished into the positive and negative traits. One such concept is the phenomenon called entrapment which more often is associated with the managerial cadre of the industrial world and is considered to be in the negative trait. This concept has developed new managers who are called the Entrapped Managers. Who are Entrapped Managers[EMs] : Who are Entrapped Managers[EMs] Officials who are increasingly devoted to their pet projects and turning a blinds eye towards other organizational projects Officials who tend to spend more time ,effort and money into particular projects Officials who even after understanding that the output would be meager and less attractive but still would continue to put efforts just to that they were right in their decision making capacities Officials whose increased devotion to self generated projects does not permit their mental state to understand and analyse the resource loss they had accumulated Officials who more often engage the services of the obedient subordinates to materialistically capitulate their own projects How to identify Entrapped Managers : How to identify Entrapped Managers Cash out flow in their assignments would be high with less or nil returns. They tend to show less interest in the official projects of the organization. Effect of Entrapped Managers on the managerial hierarchy: Effect of Entrapped Managers on the managerial hierarchy The Entrapped Manager who is a front line manager would not essentially cause much concern to the organization as the losses incurred would be minimal. But if the Entrapped manager is a person who is involved in the strategic decision making process of the organization then the losses to the organization would be huge and enormous.
