Principle No. 1 - Effective evaluation requires recognition of program goals

Example of Goals in Guidance Programs  Monitor Academic progress, attendance and behavioral concerns.  Assist students with planning their sequence of courses.  Allow students to develop a sense of belonging.  Advise students on postsecondary education and careers.

Principle No. 2 - Effective evaluation requires valid measuring criteria

GOAL: Provide each entering student with a series of three career interviews with a counselor CRITERIA: Counting the percentage of students who had such an opportunity to be interviewed GOAL: Provide each student with a broadening of his career understanding CRITERIA: ????????????
