Clergy and Referrals social services often felt to be unresponsive to spiritual dimension social services often do not consider involving clergy in the process, i.e. call clergy for pastoral support if there is a placement once situations are referred, social services often do not keep clergy involved if they refer to sectarian agencies, they may lack knowledge: case example

Ageism social services need to prioritize allocation of resources clergy are committed to a view that everyone has equal value however, reality is that they, too, need to make trade-offs in terms of resources they can ending up using the world’s values to make these decisions

Recommendations we need spiritually sensitive social services clergy need help, but what kind of help is unclear we need to invite clergy to construct the problem and the issues and to be willing to fully listen we need to develop models of practice together with faith communities we need to acknowledge the diversity in the construction of the problem and its solutions
