INDIAN STUDENTS IN USA In academic year 2007/08, there were 94,563 students from India studying in the United States Increase of 12.8% from the previous year. Since 2001/02, India has remained the leading place of origin for students coming to the United States. Academic Level. The majority of Indian students study at the graduate level. In 2006/07, their breakdown was as follows: 14.4% undergraduate 72.0% graduate students 2.1% other 11.5% OPT (Optional Practical Training) Contd….

Since 2001/02, India has remained the leading place of origin for students coming to the United States.
