This is a fun filled play depicting the steady growth of relations between our cultures and the history created along the way. We will show the role of music, diplomacy , commerce and the shared values between us; and how these elements have helped our relationship grow and thrive in a world becoming ever more dangerous. We recreate memories from the building of the railroads in America, the Ed Sullivan show, New York’s Copa Cabana Club, Motown and beyond. The play begins with the exciting Jigu Thunder Drums of China as a tribute to the People’s Republic of China and ends with a resounding futuristic scene and fireworks with both the Chinese National Anthem and Ray Charles’ rendition of America piped in.

The plan is to present this musical to all ages around the world. The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade has invited this production to do a 5 city tour in China, starting in Guangzhou, China to coincide with the start of the China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair September 25, 2009 and the show would also be presented in the cities of Nanjing, Hefei, Xian and Beijing before being presented in US cities still to be determined. East Meets West would return to China by invitation of CCPIT for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.   This production will be presented as a 2 hour musical theatrical production in the celebration of music and culture.
