Design Tips for Your Business Card
Even in a digital age, printed premium business cards are still a great tool for networking and marketing. Create a well designed card that your customers will remember you and display products/services your company provides. Below are some designing tips to help you create an effective and powerful business card.
Business Card Design When designing your business card, keep this in mind, they should display a clean and professional look. At Primo Cards, we offer a variety of business card templates that you can choose from or it may be best to hire a designer in helping you create your ideal business card.
Readability People can get carried away by choosing “fancy” fonts. Some look better on screen than printed out on stock paper. Fonts play an important roll in the design. Allow your card to be read easily and make sure the fonts are legible. It’s important to break up the card content (name, business, phone number etc.) by using two different types of fonts. Choosing a light print color is generally difficult to read, incorporate dark colors such as black and dark blue or neutral colors.
Card Layout This is an area that is generally overlooked. There are a variety of business card sizes (standard is 3.5”x2”) including slim and even die-cut cards. Make sure you use the appropriate space and try not to over “stuff” with content or images. Make sure you include your business logo and try to arrange the text not too close the the edge of the card. Text that is left-aligned seems to be easier to read while centered text is more difficult.
Information on the Card When including your business information, it’s best to include two ways for a client to reach you. The basic and minimal information should include; company name, employee name, company position, phone number, website url and email address. If there is additional space, include company social media sites as. This is another way for clients to reach you or research your products and services. Refrain from displaying out dated technology such as a fax number.
Quality of Card Stock Most are unaware that choosing a card stock is a reflection of your company. Choosing a 12PT to 14PT thickness is a top quality that is durable. If your card is going to display an image, use a glossy finish, but it it difficult to write on. Choosing an uncoated paper stock is viewed as more “formal” and can easily be matched with company letterhead, notepads, envelopes and printed brochures. Raised lettering and embossing are custom finishes that add class to a plain business card.
A Variety of Business Cards Available If you are wanting to create something “out-of-thebox”,” there are plastics cards and silk laminated business cards. Plastic cards are ideal for membership cards,VIP cards and loyalty cards. Choosing a silk laminated business card adds a smooth and elegant look to your card. They are also tear and water resistant, making them more durable and last longer than traditional card stock.
Your Business Card Always remember when designing your business card your card says a lot about you and your company. Making customers remember you continues to be very important. Add a few “extras” and make your card more memorable and distinctive. Read 10 Crucial Parts to a Business Card for additional information on designing your business card.
