Academic Structures ReviewSummary Recommendations : Academic Structures ReviewSummary Recommendations BIT - that the Faculty: eliminate majors for commencing students in 2008 review the core limit unit offerings within the majors. Faculty Response: reduce to 3 majors + 1 ‘no major’ for commencing students in 2008; review the core for implementation in 2009; limit unit offerings within the degree. Academic Structures ReviewSummary Recommendations : Academic Structures ReviewSummary Recommendations BCSM – that the Faculty retain a set of distinct core units Response: Accepted. BGIE - that the Faculty retain a set of distinct core units and existing majors Response: Accepted. MIT – that the Faculty maintain conversion and extension forms; and provide wide choice of units. Response: Accepted. Further review may take place to simplify structure MIM – that the course continues, subject to a credible business plan to extend market for the course. Response: Accepted Change Process : Change Process Two phases of change Phase One – Organisational restructure. Was approved by University Council on 5 September Phase Two – Staff reduction process (now) Communication with our students and partners : Communication with our students and partners Research students – two forums with E/Dean held already Coursework students Meetings with student representatives on FIT and QUT committees have occurred throughout this year. Three Student Forums are scheduled: Monday 24 September (MIM), Monday, 1st October 2007 and Wednesday, 3rd October 2007 Key message: The Faculty is committed to addressing student and stakeholder concerns. Students are advised to contact the relevant Course Coordinator with any issues. In Conclusion : In Conclusion We’re doing OK! Thompson Scientific, rankings of the top 3 Australian Unis for a variety of fields.  In Computer Science, QUT is ranked #1!
