A Corporate Social Responsibility event was organized by volunteers from Ernst & Young LLP and Association for India's Development for children of a school 'Shiksharth' run by the NGO at village Kanhai, Gurgaon (India).

Here is a brief write up I created on the same. Just to share, the total cost of organizing this event was less than Rs 5000 ( USD 90)

EY – AID CSR Event at Kanhai Village, Gurgaon organized on 26th Oct 2014 On Sat 26th Oct 2013, volunteers from EY CSR team and Association for India’s Development (AID) came together to organize a drawing colouring competition for the children of AID-run primary school ‘Shiksharth’ at village Kanhai in Gurgaon (NCR). Preparations for the event started with EY CSR team member, Suyog Singh, who is also leading the AID-Gurgaon chapter, proposing this activity during the EY monthly CSR meeting , to encourage these school children and to help in sustaining and growing their interest (and of their families) in being regular to school for education. The venue was kept at the school premises itself and volunteers from EY (Kanav, Sumit, Karishma and Heba, along with EY CSR lead Sulbha) discussed out the modalities and detailed this program (mostly telephonically due to different locations of posting of these members). EY CSR unit sponsored this event. On the scheduled date, about seven volunteers from EY and AID organized the event with help from the teachers of this school. The completion organized in two categories, one for children up to 6 years and other for children between 7-13 years, saw a very good participation from about 80 children. The younger students were given a free choice while the older ones were given the theme of ‘Deepawal i’.Volunteers also made arrangement for water and refreshments for the participating children and teachers. The excitement and energy of the children was worth watching. At the end of the competition, volunteers decided 3 winners from each category. Prizes were given out to the winners as well as other participating children, to keep them encouraged for future.
