CHAMP Goal Redesign the current Colorado Community College System model for credit for prior learning to accelerate certification Review current and develop new CPL policy PLA model to include: college credit, standardized testing, challenge testing, portfolios - Focus on learning vs. experience Significant elements that support Veterans i.e. ACE crosswalks Review of current practices/procedures Professional development for advisors

Process Research and learning – current local practices, national models Assemble CPL/PLA Subcommittee First work will be on the policy. Most of the work of the team will be focused on establishing procedures and supporting implementation over the course of the grant.
The CPL Subcommittee Met for the first time February 28, 2014 Representatives were chosen for their expertise in particular roles. Currently soliciting nominations of manufacturing/CTE faculty, transfer faculty and advisors. We have one industry representative but could use more. As the work goes forward, colleges will be asked to designate a “PLA person” to work with committee members as a local contact
The CPL Subcommittee Charge Research and identify best practices in CPL and Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Contribute to the process of expanding the current CCCS CPL handbook Act in an advisory capacity to CAEL as they design the PLA for the CHAMP consortium Identify training needs of colleges and partners Support and contribute to the implementation process of the updated handbook
Committee Member Commitment Monthly meetings – last Friday of the month Communication with colleges, industry partners, community partners Gather information to inform the process Share with subcommittee members
First meeting Learned about CPL theory and current practices in the country from CAEL VP of Higher Education, Judy Wertheim Ed. D. Worked through a SWOT analysis to begin the process of setting goals/strategies for our work Discussed the make-up of the group and who needed to be added Established a meeting schedule Learned about Basecamp Will meet next on March 28, 2014 location TBD
