what is connected and‘flat’ learning?

Connected Learning…….Connected learning applies to skills, attitudes and behaviorsfor the 21st century. It is about how we receive, share andultimately create and publish content. It is also about how weapproach learning through the use of technology. Connectedlearning focuses on the building of networks and developingpersonal learning resources through the interaction withpersonal learning networks and professional learningcommunities. A face to face community, or regular classroom,is often the starting point, but then, supported by technology,the learner connects with other ideas, resources andcommunities online. The term connectivism is often usedand refers to the metaphor of a network with nodes andconnections, and where learning involves creating theseconnections.

Connected Learning…..

Flat learning…….Flat learning refers to the working relationship betweenall learners - teachers, students and others - so there is noreal hierarchy for learning. A Flat Classroom connectsand engages with multiple audiences, resources and toolsto create authentic, collaborative learning outcomes.Information flows freely from one to the other as thequest for knowledge, constructed through interaction,continues. This is scaffolded by the efficient use of avariety of tools, especially Web 2.0 tools, for learningmanagement, collaboration and co-creation.PLN - Personal Learning NetworkPLC - Professional Learning Community

Part 2: Collaborative AuthoringProblem solving:• How will your team connect and communicate?• How will you make sure only 1 person is editingthe wiki at once?• Where and how will draft resources anddevelopmental discussions be shared?• Who will take leadership for editing language(US English or British English?)

Part 3: Presentation/Action Project• Go to the Google Presentation• Decide as a team what information you wishto share from your research• Create one or two new slides• Allocate a team member(s) to add content tothese slides• Dont forget!
