The board members of the bank on February 22 has approved to allot by conversion of up to 80000 perpetual non-cumulative preference shares (PNCPS) of Rs 1,00,000 each into such number of equity shares of Rs 10 each to Government of India in one or more tranches. • ALSTOM India Ltd has been awarded a contract worth around INR 2620 million (i.e. around Euro 30 million) to equip the 2 x 89.3 MW Shuakhevi Hydropower plant located in Georgia. Alstom's share of the contract is worth around INR 1934 million (i.e. around Euro 20 million). The Shuakhevi hydro power project is part of one of the largest foreign direct investment projects in Georgia to date. The power plant is expected to have an installed capacity of 178.6 MW and is expected to be commissioned in 2016. • Pfizer East India B.V. Netherlands proposed to acquire 60.94% stake which collectively held by Pfizer Corporation (31.42%) and Pfizer Investments Netherlands B V (29.52%), Pfizer said . Both, the acquirer and the sellers are held and controlled by Pfizer Inc. USA . • Zydus Pharmaceutical USA, a subsidiary of Ahmedabad-based Cadila Healthcare, has received approval from US Food and Drug Administration for Clonidine Hydrochloride injection (with strength of 0.1 MG/ML and 0.5 MG/ML ) • Union Bank clarification : United Bank likely to merge with Union Bank",Union Bank of India has clarified that bank once again deny the news that United Bank of India may merge with Union Bank of India and no such negotiations are in place. Furthermore, there is no information with us that needs to be submitted to Stock Exchanges in terms of Clause 36 of the Listing Agreement • NHPC Ltd has informed that an MoU has been signed on February 22, 2014 amongst NHPC Limited, Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited and Pirpainti Bijlee Company Pvt Limited (PBCPL) for participation in PBCPL, to develop 1320 (2X660) MW Pirpainti Supercritical Thermal Power Project in Distt Bhagalpur of Bihar state. • Infosys laid the foundation stone of its proposed SEZ which will be created with an initial investment of Rs 400 crore. The foundation-laying ceremony of the SEZ, to be constructed on 130 acres, was held at the Super Corridor on the outskirts of city in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. • Reliance Infrastructure announced completion of the Trichy-Karur road in Tamil Nadu, undertajen through its Special purpose Vehicle TK Toll Road Pvt Ltd. Built at a cost Rs 732 crore , the two four laning of 36 kms of Trichy-karur ( TK ) road has been completed and toll collection started . • Eurostat said consumer price inflation rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.8% last month, up from a preliminary estimate of 0.7%. Euro zone inflation rose by 0.8% in December. The rate remains firmly below the European Central Bank's target of near but just below 2%. • German research institute, Ifo said its Business Climate Index rose to a seasonally adjusted 111.3 in February, above forecasts for 110.6 and up from a reading of 110.6 in January. • Average new home prices in China’s 70 major cities climbed 9.6 percent in January from a year earlier, easing from December’s 9.9 percent rise. It was the first time in 14 months that the country's home price rises eased, and the most recent sign that the government's four-year-plus campaign to rein in property risk may finally be working.
Management Tweets : • Coal India Mgt guideline : Company is staring at something 8-10 million tonnes of shortfall as on today by end of March, both in production and offtake. The performance in the next 36 days will determine whether it is 8 million or 10 million short. • GMR Infra Mgt Guideline : With IDFC, Temasek and other investors agreeing to restructure their investment in GMR Energy Limited, GMR Infrastructure Limited is all set to issue CCPS (compulsory convertible preferential shares) through a preferential allotment. The company is planning to issue CCPS worth Rs 788.8 crore to Temasek and Rs 348 crore to IDFC consortium. GMR Energy is now valued at Rs 6,000 crore. Company expects favourable decision from CERC for GMR Energy. • SAIL Mgt Guideline : Company plans to scale down investment by nearly 22 percent to Rs 9,000 crore on expansion and modernisation at 5 integrated plants during the next fiscal. Highest outlay of Rs 2,960 crore has been proposed for the Bhiali plant, followed by Rs 1,790 crore for the Rourkela plant. It also plans to invest Rs 1,244 crore in Burnpur unit, Rs 642 crore in Bokaro unit and Rs 588 crore in Durgapur facility. SAIL is investing Rs 72,000 crore to enhance capacity by around 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 24 MTPA. The ongoing expansion is likely to be completed next fiscal. • Jindal Steel and Power Mgt Guideline : Company expects the company’s total steel capacity, both in India and overseas, to increase around 8 million tonne as compared to current 3 million tonne by the end of the fiscal. Company expects the total capacity to go about 2,800 MW, after the commissioning of three units of 600 Mega Watts.
