Dealing effectively with increased product complexities & demands? 2

What we‘ve learned from customers and research can help you. Here´s what we have to share. 3

Customers require a broader range and selection of products 4 What customers want… Products that are better, cheaper, and faster

Which today include an exponentially increasing amount of software 5

As well as, high levels of connectivity 6 With more… Intelligent products and the Internet-of-Things

with many more competitive pressures 7 and with it… Wider and deeper market reach

Therefore, leading to increased organizational complexity 8 Companies needing to expand horizons … more mergers & acquisitions

And inevitably more and stringent regulatory burdens 9 Federally mandated automotive recalls (NHTSA history): • 390 million cars, trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds • 66 million pieces of automotive equipment • 42 million child safety seats

The negative impact of COMPLEXITY 10

Collaboration is tough without well-defined processes and tools 11

12 Related design artifacts can´t be reused across product lines which • Limits design reuse • Creates inconsistencies in product design • Introduces quality issues creating products that are more difficult & costly to maintain • Increases errors & redundancies because of lack of standardization with increased engineering, manufacturing and servicing costs

Disjointed processes make early design validation impossible, leading to costly late stage rework 13

14 AND THEN... Complete product designs are not manufactured on time, affecting time-to-market and lost market opportunities

15 If this is your experience, don´t despair THERE IS A SOLUTION. Watch out for Part 2.
