Passover At Passover, Jewish people are not remembering the events of the Passover, they are participating in the Passover. Likewise, when Christians celebrate the Eucharist, we are with Yeshua, participating in the Last Supper, and in his Death and Resurrection. Yeshua saw himself as completing the Passover, the Lamb of God whose blood was shed to protect the people of Israel from the angel of death. Likewise Yeshua is sacrificed to take us from death to life, from slavery into freedom.

Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Yeshua took bread, and having blessed, broke and gave to his disciples and said, “Take, eat, this is my body.” And taking the cup, and giving thanks, he gave it to them saying, “Drink from it all of you, for this is my blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Luke 22:15-16, 19-20 “ I desired greatly to share this Passover with you before my suffering, for I tell you I will not eat of it again until it is fulfilled at the Lord’s reign.” And taking bread, giving thanks, He broke it and gave it to them saying, “This is my body which is given for you, do this in remembrance of me.” Likewise the cup also, after supper saying, “This cup is the renewed covenant in my blood which is shed for you.”

John 6:27-58 “ Do not labour for the food which is perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the son of Man shall give you…My Father gives the true bread out of heaven. For the bread of the Lord is HE who came down from heaven and gives life to the world.” So they said to him, “Master give us this bread always,” And Yeshua said to them, “I am the bread of life, he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me will not thirst…he who believes in me has everlasting life, I am the bread of life…this is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone might eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven, if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever, and indeed the bread I give is my flesh for the life of the world… Unless you eat of the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you shall not have life within you, for my flesh is truly food and my blood is truly drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood resides in me and I in him. As the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on me shall live because of me. This is the bread which came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna and died. He who eats this bread shall live forever.

I Corinthians 10:16-17 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Messiah? The bread we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Messiah? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Messiah? The bread we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Messiah?

Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

I Corinthians 11:23-31 The master, in the night in which he was betrayed, took bread, and having given thanks, he broke it, and said, “Take, eat this is my body, which is broken for you, do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also, he took the cup after supper, saying “this cup is the renewed covenant in my blood. As often as you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the master until he comes. So that whoever should eat this bread or drink this cup of the master unworthily shall be guilty of the body and blood of the master. But let a man examine himself and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup. For the one who is eating and drinking unworthily, eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the master For if we were to examine ourselves, we would not be judged.
