List of text selection criteria for the target group. • Language level & Potential • Simple, easy to read and understand • As in Rapunzel story for the kids, the sentences in the book are simple. For example, “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let your hair down,”

List of text selection criteria for the target group. • Visual features • Must have pictures to attract the students to read the book and make them understand the story of the book. • In Rapunzel and Cinderella, the drawing of the cartoons are beautiful and are appealing to the audiences especially the girls

List of text selection criteria for the target group. • Cultural content • Cultural content of the book must be related to the children’s culture to make it easier for them to understand. • Si Tanggang is an example of a story for young readers that gives a better understanding of Malaysian culture to the readers as the target group are the young readers from Malaysia. This is because the story are being set during old times of Malaysia.

List of text selection criteria for the target group. • Interest • During this age, boys and girls does not share the same interest. Boys are attracted to adventurous genre such as Jack and The Beanstalk, The Country Mouse and the Town Mouse and Conan. • Meanwhile, girls are interested to genres such as fairytales and fantasy. For example, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Rapunzel and Cinderella.

List of text selection criteria for the target group. • Moral values • The story book should contain moral values that children can learn so that they can apply it to the real life. • For example, in the story of Jack and The Beanstalk, moral values of bravery are being introduced to the young readers. We must be brave to stand for what is right so that we will not stray from what is wrong. Other than that, Jack also was pictured as a kind-hearted person where he is willing to trade his cow to an old man in exchange of some magic beans. BRAVERY
