This surgery removes bone and if necessary portions of a herniated disc from the cervical spine. These herniations can cause radiating arm pain from the disc pressing on the nerve roots

A disc herniation may compress the exiting nerve root against the roof of the spinal canal Ther area in orange represents the window of bone which will be removed

Dr Pazmino will make an incision posteriorly on the neck to gain exposure to the spine

Using Microsurgical instruments Dr Pazmino next carefully removes a small window of bone to access the nearby nerve root and herniated disc This small window will also help reduce pressure on the nerve root
