Consulting Methodology Over the last decade Information Technology (IT) has become an essential component of how businesses increase revenue, decrease costs and improve the quality of their products and/or services delivered to their customers. When used appropriately, IT can result in quantum leaps only dreamed of just a few years earlier. IT also has become a competitive advantage that allows our clients to differentiate themselves from the competition and exceed their customers’ expectations. BVA’s methodology is a combination of experience and best practices that allow our clients to harness the true business value of IT. As projects have become increasing complex and interdependent, it is critical these efforts are approached in a manner that insures a successful implementation. MethodologyPrinciples BVA’s Consulting Methodology principles focus on a collaborative approach to develop the optimum solution targeted to your business goals and objectives. The methodology is divided into the following distinct phases: 1. Assess 2. Plan& Design 3. Verify 4. Implement 5. Transition 6. Support Methodology-StepbyStep BVA’s Consulting Methodology is comprised of the six phases listed above, each building on its predecessor. The early phases identify, quantify, and build an effective project plan; later phases put the plan into action.
Phase1: Assess During the Assessment phase, BVA works with the client to analyze the current systems and business processes to align project goals with the strategic direction of the company. The deliverables for this phase include: A high-levelphasedprojectplanoutliningthe future pathtoachieve the goalsandobjectives. A documentthatwill include projectscope,objectives,deliverables,andcostsforPhase 2. Phase2: Plan & Design The Plan & Design phase combines BVA’s industry experience and client specific information into a plan of action. BVA develops a comprehensive plan outlining the project’s purpose, requirements, business objectives, and performance metrics. All elements of the project plan are intended to achieve the strategic targets and business drivers for the project. The deliverables for this phase include: A task-level projectplanoutliningthe stepstoachieve the projectgoalsandobjectives. A documentoutliningapproximate costsforhardware,software,professionalservices,and othernecessaryexpendituresforthe remainingphasesof the project. Phase3: Verify Using the custom solution designed in Phase 2, BVA will build and configure the solution in a test lab or as a pilot in the “production” network environment. As part of this phase, BVA will conduct system tests to verify that the solution will function properly in the client’s IT environment. If needed, changes to the proposed design will be made in this phase. Using the finalized project design, an implementation plan will be created that will be used in Phase 4. The deliverables for this phase include: A fullyconfiguredtestlaborpilotsolution. A testedtransitionplantothe new solution. A go-live fallbackcontingencyplan. Phase4: Implement Working closely with the client, BVA Consultants will determine the optimum time to perform the implementation plan created in Phase 3. The final production environment will then be deployed and brought online. The deliverables for this phase include:
A solutionimplementedintothe productionenvironment. Performance optimizationof the solutiontomeetthe client’sexpectations. Knowledgetransfertothe clientthroughoutthisphase andthe remainingphasesof the project. Phase5: Transition When the production environment has been accepted by the client, the conditions are met to go live. During this phase user accounts, data, and other pertinent information are transitioned to the new system. The deliverables for this phase include: Fullyfunctioningsolutionthatsatisfiesthe requirementsdeterminedinPhases1and2. Documentationonthe newsolution. Phase6: Support The proposed solution is now live. To assist client’s with the transition, BVA Consultants can assist internal teams with support and troubleshooting tasks. The deliverables for this phase include: Ownershipof the projecttransferredtothe client’sinternalteam.
