Furniture 101 Buying and Caring for your Home Furnishings Buying furniture can seem like a complicated process, especially for those who are not familiar with it. Overspending is easy if you aren't prepared. That means doing your research before you set foot in a store. Continue reading to learn everything you need to know about furniture. If you run across an older furniture piece, be sure to check the underside to see if it's stable. Looks can be deceiving. Dry rot and rust are the most common issues with older furniture. When you're purchasing a sofa, check for its durability and then check for comfort. Springs need to be supporting the cushions. Hand-tied eight-way springs are generally best, but the serpentine ones work too if they're in good shape. Test out the springs by using your hands to feel them. Good ones are the ones that are more firm when they're built to where they're placed together closely. The end of summer is really the best time to buy patio furniture. When a season ends, trends change and stock needs to be moved out. That is why they'll decrease prices and make them more affordable.

Don't neglect trying some haggling when you buy furniture. Many furniture stores significantly mark up their prices, and will often be willing to cut the price by 20% or more with some negotiation. If you're uncomfortable with haggling, get a friend or family member to shop with you. Inspect the legs on a piece of furniture before you buy it. The legs should be hefty and should be attached to the frame. Metal, rubber, and plastic legs can scratch floors and tend to not be as durable as those legs made from wood. Many times legs are nailed to the underside, but they should be firmly joined to the frame. When furniture shopping, bring along color samples from wall treatments. You can adore a piece, but after you bring it home, you may notice that it doesn't go with anything. Prevent this from happening. You can do this by taking a photo of the room the new piece will be placed in, or by using a color swatch to see if it matches. Read the warranty prior to making a furniture purchase. It's terrible to spend a huge chunk of money on a piece of furniture only to discover that damages you believed would be covered weren't. A thorough reading of the warranty will ensure you know exactly what is and what is not covered. Do not buy all of your furniture at the same time. To stick to your budget, you might have to get individual furniture pieces over time. By slowly buying one piece at a time you're going to be able to save your money and your back! When you buy pieces that you will use a lot, like a couch or bed, be sure it's comfy. You want something that is both comfortable as well as beautiful. It can be hard to get enough good furniture to fill your home properly. Therefore, prior to making any furniture purchase, you should educate yourself on the whole process. The above article has provided you with tips to do this. More furniture tips on our website: Abel Furn Rentals
