Hormone Replacement Therapy Lab Testing Facts and Myths

Which Type of Test to Take for Which Hormone

Testing for HRT Levels Testing is conducted on patients using Hormone Replacement Therapy to check levels of particular hormones in relation to “balancing” them.

Balancing Hormones Balancing Hormones means adjusting hormone levels to eliminate the symptoms associated with lab results.

Four Generations of HRT 1. Synthetic, low dose, static dose, oral 2. Bioidentical, low dose, static dose, transdermal 3. Bioidentical, optimal dose, cyclic dose, Wiley Protocol 4. Bioidentical, optimal dose, cyclic dose, Panacea Protocol

First Generation HRT Synthetic, low dose, static dose, oral • Used by HRT uneducated practitioners • Most practitioners still use • Considered “Medieval” HRT

Second Generation HRT Bioidentical, low dose, static dose, transdermal • Used by First Generation HRT practitioners who’ve had some training in HRT • Considered “Old School” HRT

Third Generation HRT Bioidentical, optimal dose, cyclic dose, Wiley Protocol • Used by cutting edge, HRT educated practitioners (have their own protocols) • Considered “Cutting Edge” HRT ten years ago • The Wiley Protocol

Fourth Generation HRT Bioidentical, optimal dose, cyclic dose, Panacea Protocol • Used by cutting edge, HRT educated practitioners Considered “Cutting Edge” “Modern” HRT • The Panacea Protocol: Bioidentical Cyclic Dosed Hormone Restoration Systems™

Saliva Testing • Used by First and Second Generation HRT practitioners as a main vehicle for testing hormone levels in women • Not used by Third or Fourth Generation HRT doctors

Urine Testing • Not typically used by First and Second Generation HRT practitioners as a main vehicle for testing hormone levels in women • Used by Third Generation HRT doctors to test 24 hour cortisol

Blood Testing • Not typically used by First and Second Generation HRT practitioners as a main vehicle for testing hormone levels in women • Used by Third and Fourth Generation HRT doctors

Hormones Tested • Estradiol • TSH & Free T3 • FSH • SHBG • Progesterone • HGH • LH • Cortisol • Testosterone Free & Total • Vit D 25, Hydroxy

Estradiol Testing • Take day 21 of cycle • First thing in morning • 150-250 • No need to take other estrogen testing

LH Testing • Progesterone indicator • 1-2

FSH Testing • Estrogen indicator • 2-5

SHBG Testing • Better indicator if estrogen is circulating through the liver • The more estrogen the liver sees, the higher the SHBG

Fourth Generation HRT Panacea Protocol: Bioidentical Cyclic Dosed Hormone Restoration™ Restoring hormones to healthy, optimal levels, and dosed in the rhythm of the woman’s cycle.

MedCaps Menopause™ is a unique combination blend that is formulated to provide nutritional targeted nourishment for women during menopause. It features specially selected herbs and nutrients that support the adrenal glands’ adaptive response as well as support circulation, relaxation and overall well-being. Featuring a non soy derived source of isoflavones, MedCaps Menopause may also beneficially influence estrogen receptor function.

PMS Soothe™ is a comprehensive blend of Native American and Chinese herbs traditionally used to provide balance and support for a healthy menstrual cycle.

Hormone Protect™ is an ideal combination of DIM (diindolylmethane) and SGS™ (glucoraphanin) that helps protect estrogen-sensitive tissues by promoting healthy estrogen metabolism and supporting detoxification and neutralization of harmful estrogen metabolites and xenoestrogens.
