Christian gifts crafted to withstand the test of time Bible Blessings® knows Christians each have unique talents and gifts given to them by God. As Christians, it is important to know how, when and why to share those gifts.
3 reasons to give The Bible offers several examples of how, when and why Christians need to share gifts. For exampleAnd their father gave them great gifts, of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the first-born. 2 Chronicles 21:3 Indeed, there are multiple examples throughout the Bible of giving and receiving. Here are just three reasons why, as a Christian, it is important to share and receive gifts:
1. Giving brings joy and blessings to you, the giver: The Bible makes it clear that there are levels of rewards in heaven. Those rewards are influenced by one’s level of generosity while here on earth. In Acts, we are instructed In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
2. Giving helps fulfill the needs of others: While it is true that you may not be able to help everyone in need, but for the one person you can help, you will be fulfilling God’s work here on earth. In Peter, we learn As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
3. Giving exemplifies your faith: You need only look at the many gifts God has given to the world since the beginning of time. And, of course, the greatest gift of all is expressed in John For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17
There’s an innate desire in most people to want to give and help others. For those of us who are called to Christianity, we are God’s ultimate example of generosity. As often happens with humans, the pressures of greed and materialism sometimes overpower our desire to give in favor of “keeping up with the Joneses.” Thus, it helps to, from time to time, refresh our minds and reflect on what is God’s will for us as his stewards. In so doing, we are reminded of how God has given so much to us and how we must pay it forward by sharing our blessings with others.
