FIRST SCENE • THE FIRST OPENING SCENE IS A LONG PAN WHICH TRAVELS ACROSS THE LOCAL SCENE OF BLACKPOOL, AS WE FIRST SEE A TYPICAL BUTCHERS SHOP FILLED WITH MEAT WHICH IS THEN JOINED BY A SMALL INDIAN VEGETABLE MARKET WITH CULTURAL POSTERS AND A NON DIEGETIC THEME SONG. • HOWEVER THE NEXT SCENE TAKES US AWAY FROM THE BRITISH MOVIE STYLE THEME AND INTO A TYPICAL INDIAN ONE WHERE EVERYTHING IS DRAMATIZED, THE MUSIC’S SHARP BLASTS ARE IN SYNC WITH THE SHUDDERED ZOOMS OF THE CAMERA TO VARIOUS DIFFERENT IMAGES AS THE WOMEN IN THE CENTRE IS HOLDING A PLATE OF TRADITIONAL INDIAN FOOD. • THESE QUICK CUTS AND FLASHING OF THE GOD ARE IMPORTANT FEATURES FOUND IN AN INDIAN MOVIE WHEN THE CLIMATE IS HIGH IN TENSION.

• THIS THEN TRANSFORMS TO A BIDS EYE VIEW SHOT OF “GOD” LOOKING DOWN ON THE WOMEN AS SHE IS SURROUNDED BY A MIXTURE OF BRITISH AND INDIAN OBJECTS THAT GET IN HER PATH, SUCH AS COKE, CADBURYS CHOCOLATE, INDIAN MOVIES, PICTURES OF GOD, AND MANY OTHER FLYING OBJECTS WHICH RESEMBLE THE WORLD IN WHICH SHE IS LIVING IN, HALF AND HALF. • THIS ALL COMES TO A CLOSE WHEN WE REALISE THAT SHE IS JUST IN HER SHOP AND THE POSTMAN WHO CALLS HER “MISS S” DELIVERS THE PAPERS WITH A MIDLANDS ACCENT. • UNLIKE A TRADITIONAL HOUSEHOLD, THE SON AND MOTHER ARE WEARING VERY CAUSAL BRITISH CLOTHES WHICH SHOW THEIR ADAPTATION TO WHERE THEY LIVE, NOT TAKING THEIR CULTURE AND RELIGION THAT SERIOUSLY.

CAR JOURNEY SCENE • WHEN ALL OF THE TRADITIONAL INDIAN WOMEN ARE TRAVELING TO THEIR TRIP IN BLACKPOOL THEY APPROACH BEING “MOONED” AT BY A GROUP OF OLD BRITISH MEN WHO FIND THIS TO BE FUNNY AS THEIR SENSE OF HUMOUR IS VERY DIFFERENT AND THE LADIES ARE DISGUSTED AND APPALLED BY THEM AS THEY COVER THEIR EYES AND EARS. SHOWING A CLEAR DIFFERENCE IN THEIR HUMOUR AND VALUES OF WHAT IS NORMAL. • THEY THEN COME BACK AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE LEAVING THE TOILETS BUT THIS TIME SPIT ON ONE OF THEM, SHOWING THE INEQUALITY AND NO RESPECT THEY HAVE TOWARDS THEM, ONE LADY EVEN SAYS: “TYPICAL BRITISH YOUTH” WHICH REALLY DOES SUM UP THEIR CHILD LIKE BEHAVIOUR. • THE CLASSIC THEME SONG OF “WE’RE ALL GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY” AS WELL HAS BEEN ADAPTED TO THEIR CULTURE A LITTLE AND SUNG IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE THEY ARE MORE FAMILIAR TO, SHOWING THE COMBINATION OF THE TWO SIDES BLENDING TOGETHER AS ONE.

CHIP AND RELATIONSHIP SCENES • TO FURTHER SHOW THEIR CLASHING DIFFERENCES, THEY ALL GO TO GET FISH AND CHIPS HOWEVER FIND THAT THIS BRITISH TRADITIONAL MEAL IS TOO BLAND AND HAVE TO ADD IN THEIR OWN CHILLI SPICE TO FIT THEIR TASTE. THIS IS A BRILLIANT SCENE TO ANALYSE AS IT SHOWS THEIR ADAPTATION TO BEING IN A NEW SURROUNDING WHILE STILL KEEPING SOME OF THEIR OWN PLEASURED FOOD TO EAT.

END SCENE • WE SEE THE LADIES NOW IN A CLUB PLACE WHERE ONE IS GETTING ABUSED AROUND BY MEN WHO ARE PFORMING SEXUAL JESTERS TOWARDS THEM, HOWEVER TO THEIR SURPRISE THEY ACTUALLY BEGIN TO ACCEPT THIS AND JOIN IN WITH THE FUN FINDING IT RATHER ENTERTAINING. WHILE THE OLDER GENERATION DON’T AGREE MUCH TO THIS AS THEY STILL HAVE OLDER TRADITIONAL VALUES IN PLAY. • THE YOUNGER ONES SEEM TO BE HAVING THE MOST FUN HOWEVER, TAKING FULL ADVANTAGE OF THIS. • "IT'S NOT OFTEN THAT WE WOMEN GET AWAY FROM THE PATRIARCHAL DEMANDS MADE ON US IN OUR DAILY LIVES, STRUGGLING UNDER THE DOUBLE YOKE OF RACISM AND SEXISM."

• HERE WE SEE THE MALE BREAKDOWN AND LOSE AS THE POWERMENT OF THE FEMALE GROUP ARE MUCH STRONGER SHOWING THE GENDER DIFFERENCES IN CULTURE AS WELL AS GENERATION DIFFERENCES AS THE YOUNGER BOY SEES WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS WRONG. • HOWEVER THE FILM TAKES US BACK ON THEIR JOURNEY HOME HOWEVER SOME OF THEIR VIEWS HAVE CHANGED. AS THIS TRIP TO BLACKPOLL HAS OPENED SOME OF THE OLDER TRADITIONAL VALUES OF THE WOMEN'S MIND, MAKING THEM IN UNION WITH THE YOUNGER WOMEN AS THEY ALL LAUGH AT THE BREAT CAKE TOGETHER, ALSO ADAPTING THE BRITISH HUMOUR.
