The brain is complex because it is an electrochemical organ. El cerebro es complejo: es un órgano electroquímico.

El cerebro tiene células llamadas neuronas, que tienen largas ramificaciones conocidas como axones. El axón más largo viaja de tu espalda al dedo de tu pie. Entre cada axón existen sinapsis.

Como los axones son tan largos, y tu cerebro necesita ser rápido, éste usa pulsos eléctricos que viajan a través de los axones.

Este pulso eléctrico es provocado por iones moviéndose hacia adentro y afuera de las células. Este pulso se llama “spike”.
