PEPPERDINEATHLETICS:  PEPPERDINE ATHLETICS Brief History:  Brief History Since the mid 70’s, Pepperdine athletics teams have an overall winning percentage of .645 with a record of 4,688-2,582-15. The Waves have won at least 60% of their athletic contests in 20 of the last 26 seasons, surpassing the 70% mark six times. Pepperdine teams have won 7 national titles, 100 conference championships, and 134 teams have advanced to post season play. 137 teams have earned a national Top 20 ranking in their sport’s respective final national polls. 2001-02 Season Highlights:  2001-02 Season Highlights Pepperdine teams compiled an overall record of 196-93-3; a .676 winning percentage. Pepperdine won the inaugural Commissioner’s cup, winning the Men’s All-Sports Award and sharing the Women’s All-Sports Award. Six sports, 3 women and 3 men, captured the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships, with the men’s volleyball team winning the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation crown and advancing to the NCAA Championships title game. Coach and Athlete Honors:  Coach and Athlete Honors Seven of the program’s 13 head coaches earned 'Coach of the Year' honors. 11 student athletes earned All-American honors. 5 freshmen won or shared the league’s 'Freshman of the Year' in their respective sport. 7 student athletes won their sport’s 'Player of the Year' honors with Brad Keenan (men’s volleyball) being named the national 'Player of the Year'by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Volleyball Magazine. Sport by Sport Review:  Sport by Sport Review 2001-2002 Season BASEBALL:  BASEBALL 31-32 overall record; 18-12 in WCC West Division champions Lost to San Diego in WCC Championship Series. MEN’S BASKETBALL:  MEN’S BASKETBALL 23-8 overall record; 13-1 in WCC Regular season co-champions and advanced to NCCA Championships.
