1. Aspects to Consider When Designing a Systematic Fire Protection Work If an accident happens, it is very important that all individuals know how to act. A well planned Systematic fire protection work will help in keeping accidents and fatalities low. It increases the level of security and therefore confidence in the company. Systematic fire protection work (SBA) means having an organized plan, training, exercises, documents, controls and monitors for fire safety. A fire protection plan that works year after year requires good overview and preparation. A systematic fire protection work makes it easy to keep track of not only individuals but important paper work as well. SBA prompts organizations to keep important documents safe which can be done with web based systems like Safe Book. Systematic fire protection work applies to all organizations regardless of size and activity. The management hold utmost responsibility but a lot of the responsibility also falls with the security, fire safety manager and other staff members. Below are a few aspects to consider when designing a systematic fire protection work: 1. Fire Policy For effectiveSBAit’s important to create a fire policy. This policy should be secure, documented and well known within an organization. Everyone involved in organizing fire prevention should have a clear mandate and should provide enough time and resources to carry out any fire prevention work. 2. Fire Description Fire description simply means that all installations and how to use them should be described well. This description should also include the design of the building, the exits and the material that is used in various parts of the building. This is the basis for fire safety. 3. Inventory and valuation of risks. A risk inventory involves asking: What in our business may pose a risk of fire or injury? Which incidents and injuries can be prevented? Is there equipment or other things that are more important to protect for the business to continue after a fire or injury? 4. Operation and maintenance. Owners and operators have the ultimate responsibility for fire. Therefore, its best to devise rules and procedures for fire protection based on laws and regulations. This means making a list

2. of the fire fighting equipment availableand how often it should be checked. The documentation should also describe how and when to follow up the checks external fire protection consultants conduct. It should be easy to update and use the documentation for decisions. A well-implemented and current documentation will help keep track of fire protection and to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the overall improvements. An organization that can help with creating a plan and even training a ledandeinomsbafor organizations is PRE.
