To mark 100 years of Rotary 100 candles were lit up by Anns. Fire work display and live orchestra was held to add to the festival mood. Deep Ustav : Deep Ustav Rotary Club of Panaji actively participated in the Deep Ustav Program by Sponsoring prizes for Rangoli Competition and Sky-Lamp Competition. Free Dental camp for elderly people : Free Dental camp for elderly people was organized in association with Pinto Dental Multidisciplinary clinic on 9th & 10th July 2004. World Population Day : World Population Day On the occasion of World population Day Nehru Yuvak Kendra organised a rally of college students in the city in which our Members actively participated. Hon’ble Minister for Health Dr. Suresh Amonkar flagged off the same Distribution of Scholarships : Distribution of Scholarships Scholarships were awarded to 13 needy students on 14th July 2004. This is our Annual Program. Blood Donation, Diabetics, and Eye Check up Camp : Blood Donation, Diabetics, and Eye Check up Camp Rotary Club of Panaji actively participated in the Blood Donation Drive, Diabetic and eye check up camp organized by Panaji Ambulance & Welfare Trust in association with various other NGO’s & social Clubs. Medical Camp : Medical Camp We assisted NGO’s from Bastora Village and Indian Red Cross Society, in Organizing Medical Camp on 8th Aug. 04 at Bastora Village Community Hall. Medicines were distributed to more than 200 patients. Dr.Vinaykumar Raikar, Dr.Edwin Gomes of GMC, Dr.Pinto, Dr.Netalkar assisted & examined the patients. Independence Day Celebration : Independence Day Celebration Rotary Club of Panaji celebrated Independence day at 4 different venues Annual Flag Hoisting Ceremony : Annual Flag Hoisting Ceremony IPP Rtn.Dinesh Sinari hoisted the tri-colour at our adopted School Sharada Vidlaya, Kumbharjua in presence of members of the Club and PTA members. Later he inaugurated the Photo Exhibition and conducted the prize distribution. Distribution of Uniforms: : Distribution of Uniforms: 59 sets of Uniforms were distributed to needy students at our lady of Merces High School. Uniforms were donated by Mr Pravin and Mahendra Kuncolienkar of Rohit Equipments. Half Day was spent at the orphanage by way of organizing Games, competition’s etc Educational Financial Assistance Scheme : Educational Financial Assistance Scheme This year an amount of Rs. 2.68 lakhs was distributed to 75 needy and deserving students, adopted by Rotarians and generous donors from all sections of society. This annual program of ours was held on 22nd August 2004 & was well appreciated. Dental Camp : Dental Camp was organized with Goa Dental College at Sharda Vidyalaya, Kumbharjua on Tuesday 31st August 2004 . Talk on Life Saving Trauma Care Centre : Talk on Life Saving Trauma Care Centre Rtn Bharat Kamat trustee of Rotary Clubs of Goa Trust gave a presentation on 6th October 2004 about the activities carried out by Life Saving Trauma Care Centre in Goa. Plastic Free Zone. Cleaning of Merces : Plastic Free Zone. Cleaning of Merces On 16th October a massive drive was undertaken to clean the Merces- Panaji Road of bio Non Degradable waste . Recreation Activities / Lunch for Children at Apna Ghar : Recreation Activities / Lunch for Children at Apna Ghar Various recreational activities like filling of Sand Bottles & Nursery Rhymes 3- 6 yrs; Fancy Dress, Poetry reciting & Story Telling contest 6-10 yrs; Craft Contest, Singing Contest, Speech/ Essay Competition & Cartoon Contest 10 – 14 yrs; Caption Contest, Drawing competition, Dancing Competition 14 – 18 yrs. Followed by hosting of lunch was organised on 17th October 2004. Felicitation of International President of Association of Handicapped : Felicitation of International President of Association of Handicapped was held on 21st November 2004. Various NGO’s participated in the program. Total Cost of the centennial project was around Rs. 2.5 lakhs Christmas : Christmas On the eve of Christmas ie. 21st December, Rotary Club of Panaji along with Rotract Club of Panaji Celebrated Christmas day at PAP Orphanage Goa Velha. An entertainment program was organised by the children Lunch for the inmates was sponsored by President Andrew Hotel & Restaurant Cleanliness Contest : Hotel & Restaurant Cleanliness Contest Rotary Club of Panaji organised a cleanliness contest for all restaurant and hotels within the limits of the Corporation of City of Panaji. Judges were reputed people like Dr. Rajendra Tamba, Mr. Nitin Maganlal, & Rtn Shankar Kirlapalkar. The winners were : In café and vegetarian restaurant category Café Real, Café Bhonsle and Nandan Restaurant. In Bar and Restaurant Category Sher-e-punjab Classic, Delhi Darbar and Mum’s Kitchen Road Safety Week program : Road Safety Week program Secretary Transport, Government of Goa, Shri Raajiv Yaduvanshi spoke on different aspects of Road Safety. Tsunami Relief Fund : Tsunami Relief Fund Our Club members contributed Rs. 50,000/- to the Chief Minister’s Tsunami Relief Fund on 10th Jan 2005. Slide 117: Handicapped Students of Vocational Course of Govt. Polytechnic, Altinho were taken for a screening of the movie “ BLACK” . The project was sponsored by INOX and Rtn Nilesh Shah International Women’s Day : International Women’s Day Rotary Club of Panaji in association with Life Line Foundation celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing First Aid program for housewives from Chimbel area. 125 First Aid Kits were distributed to all participants. THE ART OF LIVING : THE ART OF LIVING Basic Course in Sudarshan Kriya was conducted by the The Art of Living Foundation, Bangalore from 15th to 20th March 2005 in collaboration Club Tennis De Gaspar Dias. Rtn. Ganesh Kantak coordinated the event Asthma Camp : Asthma Camp On 4th May 2005 our club in association with CIPLA organized a program to increase asthma awareness amongst the public. Booklets and free samples were distributed. 22 patient took benefit of this project. World Environment Day : World Environment Day Our Club in association with Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers and The Green Triangle Society observed World Environment Day in tune with the topic ‘Green City’ and the slogan ‘Plan for the planet’ on 6th June 2005 Felicitation : Felicitation Top Rankers at the SSC level of our adopted schools. S.S.V. Government High School, Khumbhurjua, Ideal High School, Taleigao, Our Lady of Merces High School Merces were felicitated on 15th June 2005. Artificial Limb and Calliper Camp : Artificial Limb and Calliper Camp At a function held on 22nd June 2005, artificial limbs and calipers were provided to 36 patients in association with Mahavir Artificial Limb and Caliper Centre Hubli Chief Guest on the Occasion was Dy. Shri Manohar Parrikar leader of opposition and MLA Panaji, Shri Ashok Naik Mayor of Panaji and Commissioner of Panaji Shri Suryanarayan along with other government officials were present for the open forum. More than 150 people participated . Rotary Centennial Park : Rotary Centennial Park On 29th June 2005 a Centennial Park for Sr. Citizens was constructed and dedicated to community at Miramar. In all 49 athletes from all over Goa participated Hosting of Lunch : Hosting of Lunch The week long program with Francis Xavier Memorial Trust was concluded on 18th July 2004 by providing lunch to inmates of Old Age Home, Chimbel RYLA 2004 : RYLA 2004 was organised from 19th to 21st Nov. 04 for aspiring IIT’ans in association with Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers at their campus. In all 31 students participated. The response for the program was excellent. The program was organised and executed to perfection by Rtn. Subhash Sajane Library at Our Lady of Merces High School : Library at Our Lady of Merces High School Ms Desiree Adaway Auditor from TRF inspected our Matching Grants Project Polio Plus : Polio Plus Actively Participated in the Polio Plus program by distributing 150 food packet and mineral water boxes during all immunization days TRF – Stewardship Seminar 2004 : TRF – Stewardship Seminar 2004 six members of our club actively participated in the TRF Seminar on 31st October 2004 and meeting for Scrutiny of DSG Projects and Matching grants project on 30th October 2004 Centre for Learning : Centre for Learning Rtn Ramakant Shet, member of Rotary Club of Appleton spoke on “Centre for Learning” a joint WCS project of Rotary Club of Appleton and Rotary Club of Panaji at Volvoi Slide 149: The Rotary Club of Panaji in association with Rotary Club of Appleton (USA) inaugurated a well-equipped Library and a Computer learning Centre at Volvoi, Savoi-Verem Goa. This is the 1st WCS Project in the history of our club WCS Project Tri-Oceanic Polio Plus Yatra : Tri-Oceanic Polio Plus Yatra Rtn Shreesh Deodhar, Rtn Mangesh Kashikar & Rtn Sumukh Natu visited our club under Tri-Oceanic Polio Plus Yatra and hosted by our club Awards : Awards Rotary Club of Panaji received two Awards at the District Conference. Best Administered Club and Best in Community Service. Congratulation to Rtn. Dinesh, Rtn.Sanat & Rtn Gopalbab. They did a wonderful job Congratulations ANILBAB : Congratulations ANILBAB Rtn Anil Sardesai Assistant Governor North Goa did our club proud by getting the award for “Best Assistant Governor” Publicity : Publicity Almost all projects done by our club were covered by news papers & Electronic media.
