Developed and managed a £1.25million budget for the global IT services with a focus on project costs, preparing project plans and status reports and leading the development of requisitions and specifications and the negotiation of contracts for equipment and services. Reduced overall business costs without compromising the service delivered including successfully negotiating the reduction of the monthly mobile phone bill by creating a custom package for TES with Vodafone, which resulted in a yearly saving of 50% and continually reviewing this to further drive down costs. Andrew Burt Page 2 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE December 2013 – Present Various IT Contractor Roles Tata Steel Responsibilities Contract and responsibilities have changed and been renewed throughout the 3 years with it transferring to IBM in May 2016. The role I perform is becoming project based and being a technical lead for the managed service provided by IBM to Tata Steel. I am part of the team to migrate a server estate from an outsourced company Cap Gemini to IBM on behalf of Tata Steel the customer. This involves project planning defining the scope of the project to a phased approach to transfer both knowledge and servers to be managed by IBM. Responsible for technical documentation for the services I am responsible for to allow knowledge transfer throughout the team and more recently providing sessions to India IBM for BAU activity transfer. Working alongside technical architects throughout Tata Steel to design solutions for the Wintel Infrastructure for Strip Products UK. This includes part project management, the design and architecture of this estate delivering core services such as Active Directory Services, VMware virtual platforms, SCCM, WSUS, Anti-virus and backup/DR to include the implementation and technical documentation surrounding the new domain provisioned for the Manufacturing estate. Managed the Central IT Services for Llanwern, Newport for Strip Products UK including supporting the manufacturing systems. Responsible for the core Data Centres and disaster recovery measures for the estate. Managed the configuration of the VMware virtual environment setup within Port Talbot for both the production environment and test environment to include technical documentation and training of other personnel in VMware. Supported both Port Talbot and Llanwern estates which was extended to full UK support. Responsible for managing and maintaining WSUS for Tata Steel Europe. Migrated physical servers to the VMware virtual environment based on vCenter 5.5 and 6.0. Successfully managed Improvement projects to upgrade servers from Windows Server 2003 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 R2 including applications to latest releases. Successfully managed the migration project for Microsoft SMS 2003 to SCCM 2012 R2. Involved in the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator migration from two separate installations for both Llanwern and Port Talbot operating on version 4.6 to a central managed environment on version 5.1 which involved migrating and merging policies from both Llanwern and Port Talbot and successfully migrated all 540 clients within Llanwern over to the new central managed ePO server. Assisted in the building and testing of a Windows 7 image incorporating identified packages for deployment via MDT (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit) for automating desktop deployments. Rationalised the current backup selections that had been created and where applicable remove and add servers based on the current landscape to ensure both data and in the event of a disaster occurring we had the means to restore these servers from the most recent backup. Created the new file servers, replicated the data, setup DFS and migrated all users without downtime or loss of service. Acted as the main contact and liaison person for the UK VMware environment. I have created technical documentation for distribution for key personnel being Llanwern, Port Talbot and Amsterdam. Involved with change management processes including change requests, completing risk assessments, due diligence and providing the relevant details of affected users where applicable and the communication that is required to ensure all people are informed of planned network outages. Built relationships and made recommendations to senior IT representatives across Tata Steel on suggesting improvements where applicable. July – December 2013 IT Contractor (Various) Responsibilities Worked on various short term contracts for wide ranging employers. Contracts have included project managing and deployment of Windows 7 across a single site, design and implementation of various upgrade projects for Windows Server 2008 to 2012, SAN implementations, Veeam Backup & Replication configuration, VMware implementations and general 3rdline support. September – December 2013 Harris Pye Responsibilities Provided a technical overview and recommendation of the global IT Infrastructure with a view to making strategic design recommendations. Designed and implemented Mimecast unified email archiving. Responsible for setting up and configuring Dell EqualLogic iSCSI SAN storage for the live production environment and performed a live migration of virtual machine disk files across the old and new storage array with no downtime or disruption in service to the end user. Configured SAN replication for disaster recovery. Accountable for the setup and configured a central Veeam backup and replication server and proxy servers across the globe to perform backups of virtual machines utilising local repositories for onsite recovery. Configured the 3rd SAN as a central backup repository and utilising Veeam backup and replication with the built-in WAN Acceleration, which I configured to copy data to the central offsite location.
