IntroductionToAir Force ROTC : IntroductionToAir Force ROTC Mission : Mission Develop Quality Leaders for the Air Force Overview : Overview Senior AFROTC Program Four-Year Program Two-Year Program Field Training Scholarships Air and Space Studies Classes Leadership Lab Special Programs Extracurricular Activities Senior AFROTC Program : Senior AFROTC Program Recruit, educate, commission officer candidates Located at 144 colleges / universities Different programs Take AFROTC classes like other college classes (no obligation-1yr) Instructors (active duty = Assistant Professor) Four-Year Program : Four-Year Program General Military Course (GMC) First two years Classroom and lab Professional Officer Course (POC) Selective Requires completion of Field Training Last two years Classroom and lab Two-Year Program : Two-Year Program Last two years of AFROTC Unable to complete first two years POC classes and lab Selective Requires Field Training completion Field Training : Field Training Units (4-week or 5-week) Hands-on application and training Attendance traditionally between sophomore & junior year Required for entry to POC Must pass Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) Must pass medical examination Field Training Scholarships : Scholarships High school scholarships In-college scholarships ICSP phases 1 and 2 Express programs HBCU/HSI programs In-College Scholarships : In-College Scholarships Be a US citizen by the end of the projected term of activation Pass the AFOQT Meet AFROTC weight and body standards Pass the AFROTC PFT Have at least a 2.5 cumulative college GPA Pass a physical exam and be certified as commission-qualified by the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DoDMERB) Not already be a contracted scholarship recipient Meet the age, moral, and other scholarship eligibility requirements for AFROTC ICSP—Phase 1 : ICSP—Phase 1 Only for students enrolled in ROTC Nominated by Det/CC (Col Doty) Type 2 scholarship $15K / yr for tuition $900 / yr for books Monthly stipend Deadline usually 15-30 Jan each year Freshmen nominated for 3-yr scholarship Sophomores nominated for 2-yr scholarship ICSP—Phase 2 : ICSP—Phase 2 Available to any students—includes those not selected in Phase 1 Nominated by Det/CC Type 2 scholarship (some) Type 3 scholarship (most) $9K / yr for tuition $750 / yr for books Monthly stipend Deadline usually 30 Jun each year Freshmen nominated for 3-yr scholarship Sophomores nominated for 2-yr scholarship Aerospace Studies Classes : Aerospace Studies Classes Classes taken fall / spring semesters AS 100 – Introduction to USAF (1 hr) AS 200 – History of the USAF (1 hr) AS 300 – Leadership & management (3 hrs) AS 400 – Foreign policy / prep for active duty (3 hrs) Completed status Leadership Lab : Leadership Lab Cadet Run Program AS 100 – Basic military skills (drill, uniform wear, etc.), group leadership problems, fun, and motivation AS 200 – Field Training prep AS 300 – Practice leadership and new POC skills AS 400 – Manage cadet wing; prep for active duty Physical Training (PT) twice per week Special Programs : Include specialized, off-campus learning experiences Field training Professional Development Training Base visits Special Programs Professional Development Training : Professional Development Training ASSIST SOAR Ops AF-NCO Program (Type 1/2) Operation Air Force Olmsted Travel and Cultural Immersion Nurse Orientation Army Airborne Training Foreign Language Immersion Field Engineering and Research Lab Freefall Cadet Training Assistant NASA Engineering Research Advanced Courses in Engineering Extracurricular Activities : Extracurricular Activities Detachment Examples Drill Team Color Guard Civil Air Patrol Arnold Air Society Silver Wings Review : Review Senior AFROTC Program Four-Year Program Two-Year Program Field Training Scholarships Air and Space Studies Classes Leadership Lab Special Programs Extracurricular Activities Questions??? : Questions???
